  1. 1. Is Kohli the best Indian test captain?

    • Yes he is the best India ever got
    • No he just inherited a good team
    • He may be one of the best but there were others who did not have sufficient resources at their disposal to be more successful

How many CT , World Cup and T20 World Cup did Dhoni lose. India did not even qualify for knockouts in many of those tournaments.

Kohli is the greatest captain across all formats for India. It is Kohli the batsman who needs to show up in ICC World Cups.

Till Kohli wins something meaningful he is nothing. Literally nothing.

Sarfraz won CT , does it make him better captain than Kohli.Fakhar scored 100 in CT finals does it make him better batsman than Kohli.

While I understand the need of winning trophies but it cannot be the only yard stick to measure greatness for both captain or a player.

Ganguly never won a icc tournament but he is somehow regarded as better captain than Kapil Dev by many both media and fans.

Being the best batsman in all formats and also being captain in all formats is not easy.

It is Kohli the batsman who needs to help Kohli the captain in big spots. His captaincy is just fine.

After Dhoni's dismal treatment of tests post WC 2011 and prioritizing of IPL, LOIs, Kohli came as a breath of fresh air and mostly did everything right till 2017 series against Aus - in that series, his captaincy chinks were exposed for first time (earlier backing of rohit and public criticism of pujara during 2016 WI was also jarring) and we won that series only due to rahanes calmer captaincy and selection of kuldeep at kumble's behest in last test. After bust up with Kumble, Kohli has faltered at real test of any Indian captain - SENA tours (WI is hardly a force to reckon with now). We failed to beat relatively weaker SA and Eng teams, and only won 2-1 against a weak Aus side reeling from sandpaper-gate ..... So kohli legacy as greatest captain will depend on winning atleast 2 out of 3 upcoming tours to NZ, Aus, Eng.

Massive choker and an egotistical person who has made some whimsical decisions on few away tours in the garb of attacking captaincy thereby sabotaging teams' chances even before a ball has been bowled. Neither he is any strategical genius and surprisingly defensive at times despite all the bluster of aggressiveness.

I am already envisioning the choke in the finals of Test Championship or even worse knocked out before the finals. There is also a certainty that no young batsman would allowed to prosper till he is their to lead.

Captaincy is not defined by results alone. It is about by   how much  a captain is good in a variety of factors  more importantly in 'leading from the front' , 'man management'  &   'tactical brilliance'. Kohli has got several highly skilled players   at his disposal who all have  emerged from a rich talent pool  which  has been the product of  far  professional BCCI set up. So it is only natural that he would have  achieved better results.  In 'tactical brilliance'

both Kohli & Kapil have been  average but in the other 2 factors Kapil was better than Kohli & Kapil achieved a few brilliant results with the very moderate team at his disposal   because of that.

Tactically there was no match to Dravid. He was our finest, could have been better if he had the reigns 2-3 years earlier.

Not sure if he is the greatest. But i appreciate him for giving a lot of importance to this format. It is very very vital India recognizes the importance of Tests.

Very true ,also the way he handled and backed the fast bowling culture to what it was in 2014

Ganguly won an ICC tournament, he won the CT in 2002 ,reached the finals of another CT also won the runner up trophy in WC 2003 and that too with a team ranked #6 ,those were very good achievements and he actually won a trophy which kohli has never won !!

What has kohli achieved in ICC tournaments? A big anda !!

And unlike choker Kohli who fails like no tomorrow in KO matches ganguly has scored 4 tons and a 80 odd on 9 KO matches in ICC tournaments !

He did not win CT 2002 , he shared it. Don’t try to sound as if he won it given the history of chkoing of Ganguly's teams , it was blessing in disguise that finals was rained out.Ganguly's team were biggest chokers in finals losing 9 finals in a row. Kohli captained one CT and went to finals. And one World Cup it  went semi finals.

If india got Kenya in semifinals like 2003 World Cup in 2019 they would have gone to finals too.

Ganguly is no way better captain than Kohli in any format.

Kohli took a number 7 test team and made it into undisputed no1 team in world.

He captained two icc tournaments and went to finals and semis .

If you go by numbers yes but Number will be beaten one day so numbers arent the right criteria.

Lets see other side- till today he cant get his selections right.

  • Take a look at this series- why was sundar even dropped ??
  • He still hasnt learned that umesh , siraj are better red ball bowlers in Indian condition then Ishant
  • A series ago pant was in doubt for Saha- we all kept saying how will he improve unless he improves regularly and see the result his keeping has gone several notches up

Clown is biggest choker in history of Indian cricket

Clown is the only reason people are not sure about our chances in wtc finals

He should opt out of the finals because his manhusiyat rubs off on the whole team

Ganguly's era had lots of triangular tournies where we had 6-7 teams other than Australia who were quite competitive, had this been a case today Kohli would have lost everything

Kohli is choking these days with only 3 teams competitive

He lost shamefully against a borderline minnow in CT finals, who were massacred without him under able leadership of Rohit less than year after in Asia cup,

In CT finals he got out in consecutive deliveries to his friend Amir ,thanks to a no ball

He laid an egg against NZ in WC sfs when it was there for the taking

A perennial choker like him couldn't even keep his ipl side competitive for years,

Kohli the clown will go down as a prime example that no Captain should ever be like this?

On top of that never ever allowed newcomers to settle in the side ,now just look at him sinking under his own toxicity, the decline is rapid and a kick on his stubborn butt is inevitable

This guy is reaping rewards of side Dhoni made. His blind fanboys can claim to him being the greatest ever but his ineptness as a captain & leader caused India a WC exit, a WC India could have won. I still feel disappointed when I think about that semi finals defeat arghhgh

No new batting or bowling talent has flourished under him. Someone like KL Rahul sometimes sits out to accomodate thigh slapper. Pant was made to sit out for Saha. Even in fast bowling (his supposed favourite), no exciting talent has been developed. Siraj toiled hard in India A before recently getting picked for the right format.

Virat Kohli is the worst man manager, strategist in the history of Indian cricket.

I'd rate Kohli as the 4th best captain in his own squad. 1 = Rohit, 2 = Rahane, 3 = Ashwin, and 4 = Kohli.

I still think Ganguly was the Greatest when it comes to Indian Captaincy

He turned the tide around with the Away wins, but will have to see his performances in the SENA countries

Dhonis captaincy was insipid in Away tours, while Kohli looks to win
