India needs to hone a plan B, so that if Pant's struggle is prolonged then they have someone with decent exposure ready to step in. In such 'not very important' bilateral tournaments, its best to experiment with other options.

 

Kohli is insistent on doing his Delhi buddy a favour, this could hurt the team come the World Cup.

 

Also by plan B, I mean other youngsters, not Dhoni.

Judge Rishabh on his ODI batting over 15 games. Not over a handful of T20s.  

 

Keep calm and give the young man some space.  Indian team is good enough, strong enough to afford to do so.

 

If after a bit of long rope he still doesn't figure it out, we have Ishan Kishan, Sanju, etc waiting in the wings.

Its not just his one innings. He plays retarded shots and gets out. He doesnt have a plan or method to hitting. Even a tailender can slog and can connect a few.

Yeah..& I hv said encored it again & again.. & indian version of duckridi.. no timing no placement jst plain wildly & blindly leg side hoicking.. even umesh yadav will beat this guy purely on leg side hoicking game.  Time is running out for pant. He needs to bat like a batsman not like a tailender.

That's not a great excuse. it wasn't like the last ball of the innings. aggressive hitting doesn't mean blind swinging. You still have to pick an area, figure out the length etc.

I had mentioned it couple of months ago in some other thread.   Afridi atleast used to bring something new to table .if not by batting. Then by bowling. Pant brings nothing. Apart from the customary 1 dropped catch per inning .  It's time to try Sanju Samson or Ishan Kishan or KL as a Keeper.
