One has to admit that not picking two genuine wicket takers - kuldeep and shami has cost us the world cup. After Champions trophy  debacle, we went for genuine wicket takers, and with that template we won series in Australia, Newzealand and South Africa. But just because in one match we lost against England, we abandoned that template in semis and did all the harakiri. It will always be the biggest black mark in Kohl's Captaincy.

Shami's inclusion may or may not have made a big difference but it is the batsmen who lost the game for us. Kuldeep had a bad IPL and was low on confidence.

I don't agree with that, our bowling at the front & in the middle was horrendous on a helpful pitch. Chahal was by far the worst bowler on display, on a helpful surface where Santner out-bowled him by miles, & BK was not good enough when it mattered the most. The key to winning high profile chases is to keep the opposition down to a below par total, the score by NZ was about par but the bowlers could & should have done more - just like some most of the batters.

Play both, simple and easy. Both bowl well together, data shows that. But for some strange reason that pair was broken up to accommodate Jadeja in the run up to the WC.

Jadeja should at best be looked at as the 5th bowler and should play only when we need a spin bowling all rounder. He’s averaging 60 with the ball this year but has been a certainty across formats in last 6 months just because he’s been batting better in Tests.

THIS!!!

Playing Chahal over Kuldeep in a must win SF was the biggest mistake Kohli has ever made (and he keeps making it). I am all for wrist spinners (Kuldeep and Chahal over finger spinners) but when it comes Kuldeep v Chahal, I will take Kuldeep 100 out of 100 times. Santer showed how that pitch was so much in favor of spinners, we jsut couldnt play Santner. Compare that to Chahal, who like in every single IPL must win game, crumbled under pressure

Play

Bumrah

Shami

Kuldeep

Chahal

if fit.

No need for either / or.

The so called economical bowlers just give a false sense of security in LOIs these days.

If you cannot take wickets at all stages of the game, you will lose in LOIs nowadays. Even 1 big partnership is enough.  So, just a couple of wicket takers won't do.

Not in useless LOIs though. Both should be allowed to pick and chose LOIs they want to play to stay match fit.

Kuldeep did play WC and was poor.
