Ind vs NZ 2nd ODI, Auckland

Recommended Posts

Good to see NZ comeback strongly to win the ODI series .... when that p’ship b/w Taylor-Jamieson happened, you could feel that NZ was eventually going to win this .... Well done NZ!

I watch such bilaterals to enjoy and appreciate good cricket from both teams (not just Ind). See how youngsters are shaping up. Win/loss result is not the focus. I hope that Ind gets its selection strategy right

India lack quality bowlers to be honest. Outside of Bumrah, this is a very poor bowling lineup.

I was so irritated when the broadcasters were bragging as well as Kohli as to how good India's bowling lineup was a few months back.

I could clearly see that in SENA conditions, that they would be garbage. Make no mistake India were lucky to win the T20, 5-0. That was more to do with how crap NZ is to chase gettable targets.

Teams like Aust and Eng in Australian wickets, will make India their bitches.

How  !!

Starting 2018, we won ODI series in South Africa 2018, Australia 2018-19 and New Zealand 2019.

We defeated all the Sena teams in the WC 2019 till the SF

And the bowling has played a big part in these victories.. We have 4 ODI bowlers averaging 26 or less.

The only 2 bad player selections were Jadhav and Shardul. And these 2 selections make no sense to me.

Giving chances to young openers was something we all wanted.

The other players sort of select themselves, given the fact that Jadeja is being played as a Hardik replacement at 7.

Thakur made sense as they rested Shami and he is the only other back up available. Resting Shami made sense too.

Jadhav ahead of Pant or Pandey who seems to be in good form was a pathetic decision.

Maybe they have rested Shami for upcoming tests, but this is too much an ask for Kohli and co.

I think they should rest Bumrah as well for the dead rubber, and play Shami

Shardul is not going anywhere for his hypothetical batting

Dare i say,Saini has to play ,the more he plays the better

Umesh with his sorry record overseas shouldn't get the nod over him

shardul playing today was fine since the idea was to rest shami but him playing ahead of saini for batting is what i have issue with. Dont knw why they came with just 4 seamers in squad

Top 3, Iyer, Rahul,Pant/Pandey/Jadhav  thats 6 batsman let’s says Pandya at 7

Fine but Pandya is unavailable atm, that's a valid reason why Kulcha isn't happening.

Or 5 bowlers with someone like Thakur who can whack a few or Jadeja as the 3rd spinner or few dollies from Jadhav, so many combos available. If your top 7 cannot get the job done then no one can.

Thakur is a hack, can't have him at #7. Jadhav is done, when was the last time he bowled? Among the options in the squad only Jadeja is a viable candidate and 3 spinners will be overkill.

Kul-Cha we’re doing fine even in the wc they won you games.

No they weren't. They were abysmal in the WC esp Kuldeep. Signs were visible in the Aus home series which we lost, even without Warner-Smith they toyed with Kulcha. First time I was disgusted to see Indian spinners at WC stage. That too this was their 1st appearance, novelty was there, enough experience as well. Generally our spinners shine in first few events and then fade away...the much maligned Ashwin made impact right away in 2011 WC (took out red hot Watson and 'about to launch' centurion Ponting in QF), won us the 2013 CT F (Jaddu brilliant overall), superb in 2015 WC, and was excellent in first few WT20s.

Kulcha can't avail 1+1 offer sorry, leeway can be given to those with proven track record over many years like Anderson-Broad in Eng or Ash-Jaddu in SC tests. Kul and Cha have achieved very little to get favours. Can't bat, can't field, now their primary skill has deteriorated where even part timers can outbowl them.

Sundar and Krunal don’t play ODIs.

Ok don't remember then.

How do we know that Shami was rested and not dropped ?

And why are we not carrying 4 specialist pacers on a tour to NZ ?

Yes ... Bumrah should be rested. He is playing non stop.

His balls are going to the boundary a lot.

Very very true.

Let's see ... Kohli may pick Saini in tests for his batting now.  :phehe:

There is a lot of pointless whining on here.

Kohli is a lalloo captain, yes.

India is not a bad team obviously. Some of the posts earlier about how India were lucky to reach the semifinals of the WC, wtf. It was a round-robin where everyone played everyone else and we finished top of the table.

We obviously have won LOI series in every tour in the last few years including England, Aus and NZ(ODIs last year and T20Is this time around).

Now, I like most of ICF would want Kohli/bewda duo to get ousted from LOI cricket but the majority of the Indian fan base doesn't care so they will stay.

Let's take the positive that Saini's batting might convince the duo that there is no point of Shardul going forward.

are you sure about that...? as per TM, he has b*lls of iron and striking them to the boundary is hard.
