NZ defended a low total last time with no frontline bowlers. Why can't we do with our front line bowlers

Because we have Thakur as one of our Frontline bowler. And out of the two-three one-two are defensive options.

It is Bumrah that let us down worse in one of the match. He bowled a needless bouncer conceded a 4 bye. Several wides to add. Infact we lost because of his extra balls. Thakur sucks. But Bumrah has been crap lately. He could have won atleast one game for us.

Compare the success against failures. He has an issue with temperament, shot selection, doesnt know how to pace the innings. 8 out of 10 times as the recent records suggest India would be 170-180 odd for 5. Because of Pandey we got to the point something to bowl at. Not that I am suggesting Pandey is the best option at Number 6, neither Pant is. But when you need to build an innings Pandey will do more times compared to Pant by a country mile. If you play Pant, play him in top 3, else his game (as of now is not made for 50 over cricket.

Its because of the stupid pressure put on him and multiple statements. We have seen him build responsible innings in domestics, tests and IPL as well as his initial innings in ODIs. It doesnt take little more than common sense to know that he has good temperament and knows how to pace an innings both but the stupid pressure caused him to be uncertain. Anyone with brain cells can see his game before and after the stupid statements and pressure put on him

To conclude he doesnt have the temprament and pace when he has demonstrated multple times in domestic, test matches and early creer that he has no issues is baffling to me

When was the last time we have posted almost 300 without Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli out for low score.

Last match? Kohli scored a very scratchy 50 but even if you remove his score we still scored 296, exactly as today

If you can't handle pressure you have no business playing INTL cricket simple as that. You and your excuses for your love child.

No acceleration through the innings. Only good thing is stable No. 4 and 5

Im not so sure about this.

I think with the way KL plays, he is better suited to opening the innings.

He struggles to go big in the final overs of a game.

This is the preferred lineup in my opinion. One of these 4 need to anchor an innings. Players coming in at 5 and 6 need to be big hitters.

Hitman

KL

Kohli

Iyer

When you talk about Test cricket, if you observe his innings you can see he has mostly played in no pressure situation. Even if you keep that part aside, he had a flow in his innings because he kept getting boundaries, in the middle order he was struggling to get boundaries in ODIs and was struggling to rotate strike as well. To get out of the hole he tries that ugly legside shot which has brought down his downfall. He should be allowed to play India A and allowed to work on his game for limited overs.

Shot selection is the most important part, I have seen him drag balls outside off stump towards leg side and pick the fielder.

Pitch has eased out and will ease out more in second innings

Two 280+ scores have been successfully defended here in last 3 matches.

Agree about the pressure part.
