Do India need a mental conditioning coach?

Chief coach, batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach. All of these proved useless. Can a mental conditioning coach make a difference? In theory yes, so wouldn't hurt to try.

No need for mental coach. We did pretty brilliantly from 2003-2011 with less bowling firepower. Remove captaincy from rat and kick him on the backside. tell him to concentrate on his batting. How many times has he delivered when it mattered the most. Garbage jamodi centuries and test centuries in dead rubbers is not enough. I would take Smith, root , williamson and even labushcnge over him. Also tell him that he needs to support the new captain whole heartedly. No sabotaging behind closed doors or he will get one through the rear door  Remove bevda and his beer buddies. Tell them to hit the bar to drown over their sorrows. They have cheated the fans long enough. I'm cancelling my hotstar subscription after this performance

True. lol It is astonishing how Kohli could not win a single IPL despite captaining for RCB so long with better fire power. Kane williamson even without warner took his weak side to the final.

You need to be born/raised in Australia to understand the mindset is something that is ingrained from very young.

Never give up, never die wandering. Live for the moment, rise to the occasion, give it your best, regardless of circumstances. Withstand the pressure, the heat of the moment.

Its part and parcel in every sport thats played in Australia.

I think and from what I noticed from my butter chicken Indians (raised in India) they lack that fighting spirit and the need to be at your best at the most pivotal moment.

Indians in India, generally only play cricket that involves that kind of spirit. In Australia, almost every cricketer has played Australian Rules Football, Rugby or Soccer and that is during the winter time and they carry that physicality and presence into the cricket season. I saw this from a young age. This is one of the primary reasons Australians have a very physical and mental presence when they participate in cricket.

The butter chicken Indians only play soft sports like badminton and table tennis. Hardly mentally and physically challenging and confrontational sports.

The IPL Finals are hardly challenging in comparison to Finals of Aussie Rules Football, Rugby or Soccer Finals in Australia. This is the big distinction. Australians are routinely trained and drilled in performing at their best on the grand stage.

Sure Australians lose finals here and there, but its never a walk in the park. They will bleed and fight for their country.

Butter chicken Indians bleed for endorsements and sponsorship dollars. Not that Australian cricketers dont, but its more so prevalent for Indians raised in India.

Even in IPL look at the foreign captains that won the IPL.  Warne/Gilchrist. Our Kohli is still to win an iPL

Correct. Thats a good observation.

Im not taking a shot at Indians born and raised in India. What I am saying is that there needs to be a change. It needs to begin much younger at junior cricket levels. A killer winning attitude and win at all costs within the rules of the game. The U19 Indian team that lost the world cup hurt me more than India losing the test series, because the U19 Indians represent the next batch of Indians coming through. I wanted them to win. The manner in which they lost and the way Banga humiliated them post victory I can only hope serves as a catalyst to fuel victories for India in big major tournaments.

One of the reasons I was so proud to be Indian was because of Ganguly. He had an arrogant, elitist, egotistical attitude that he and his team is equal if not better than Australia and similarly other countries too (The Lords ODI series win, was another infamous moment with him mimicking Flintoff post victory). I genuinely believe its one of several reasons that India won that infamous series in 2001. For me it is the greatest sporting achievement I have ever witnessed to have come from that far behind and win.

Imagine, being bashed in Test 1, asked to follow on in Test 2 and your greatest batsmen of all time is out early and you are about 4 wickets down and yet to pass the target to make Australia bat again. The rest is history.

India had warriors in those times, Ganguly, SRT, Kumble Bhajji, Sehwag, they didnt tolerate the arrogance of the Australian team and they fought hard to win. They bled for mother India.

Kohli bleeds for endorsements, as does Dhoni which is why he hasnt even officially retired yet.

Let me say this, even when SRT had bad patches and form slumps. SRT would practice in the nets to improve and try and get better.

Kohli tried to improve his batting slump  by shopping and sightseeing with his wife.
