Nikola
Can't be fluke cause they have never lost match chasing 200 or less in 4th innings. Tells me something how many chances we lost in last couple of years overseas with our superstars. Edited July 12, 2020 by Nikola nevada 1 Link to comment
zen
Pandya was going to do it in the 1st test in Eng - was the last man out. Then won India a test in the series .... need to back players like him PS also the 90 odd in SA when others caved in Edited July 12, 2020 by zen Link to comment
LordPrabhzy
1. Modern Indian batsmen don’t have the mindset or skill to dig in and play out the day. 2. no financial incentive for player to skip IPL and play county before the Tour. Likewise no financial incentive for BCCI to start preparations for this tour with a month of acclimatisation by playing county teams. They would rather squeeze in a ODI series with SL to make more money 3. No repercussions for ‘star batsmen’ for repeated overseas failure. They are more interested in sight seeing and shopping instead of practicing their socks off for a important tour. 4. Indian public quickly forgets SENA test thrashings when LOI starts. sorak, nevada, raki05 and 1 other 4 Link to comment

zen
The issue with our "stars" could be that they are too stat focused. They play to get to their 50-100 and once they get there, they think the "goal" is achieved Recently, many of our best wins/performances have come from the likes of Sehwag (Pak and SL), Pujara (Eng and Aus), Laxman (SL), and Pandya (as mentioned earlier), who are not too stats focused Edited July 12, 2020 by zen raki05, sorak and nevada 3 Link to comment

Jimmy Cliff
Some of our stars have laid down the marker by playing knocks like 8(54) while chasing 120-odd in 4th innings chases in the past. Same folks used to embarrass India in ICC tournaments by scoring unbeaten 30s in 60 overs. Will take a long time for a cultural change. raki05 1 Link to comment
SK_IH
Or even produce a worthy innings in a knock out match. The most overhyped bunch of cricketers, who crumble in face of adversity with great consistency. nevada, Gollum and raki05 3 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Kohli was getting out to guys like Moeen Ali under pressure in Tests. It is a curse. Apart from Laxman/Dravid others fold under pressure. Under Kohli India has bottled so many small chases. saik and raki05 2 Link to comment

Trichromatic
Last time India won in 4th innings while chasing 100+ in an away test was in 2010 https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/13229/scorecard/456671/sri-lanka-vs-india-3rd-test-india-tour-of-sri-lanka-2010 Stan AF and Gollum 2 Link to comment
raki05
Indian star shits in their pants even if target is 160 even against sl. I remember so many chases in past 2 years where target was below 240 and we bottled it up. Same story in both test and odi. As soon as pressure build up our mega star feels stomach upset. He tried to play assertively and luck went his way. You cannot denigrate his match winning innings by invoking luck. Gollum
Even for fluke knock you need balls. Against SL and BD (that too only in meaningless bilaterals) our maharathis have balls the size of watermelons, what happens in crunch matches and 4th innings chases is that those watermelons shrink to the size of raisins.
