CG Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 I was a big fan of Msd in his initial years before CSK And Srini Happened to Dhoni. My Fav Moments in no particular order. 1-2007 England Test Series Knock which was crucial in saving the test,Which eventually lead to Test series victory 2-2007 T20 Captaincy which was best of him as decisive captain 3-2008 Test Series in Australia he played a crucial knock in Perth test which we won.His Captaincy in return series in India was brilliant 4-2011 World Cup Final Knock 5-Double Hundred Vs Australia At Home Series when we were at bad position. 6-Knock Against Akhtar where he pulled some 150kph Bouncers. maniac 1
Cricketphile Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Fav MS moments which really showed who he is and made me a fan: 1. 45* v Sri Lanka in Pune, a game after his 183* - everyone incl me was expecting him to hit sixes as his previous innings had 10 sixes or so. However he came in when india were 180-6 or so, requiring 262. He then played a restrained innings not hitting any boundaries, less than a run a ball and when the target was in sight hit 2 back to back sixes to win it. This is the game that made me an MSD fan. Such versatility and cool head. 2. 2011 Lords 1st test 1st day - Zaheer injured. India lacking bowlers. He brings himself on to bowl with Kevin pietersen batting. What a move. Very few ppl would pull off such an unconventional move on the first day of a tour. He ended up ‘nicking’ kp to dravid but the decision was overturned. India went on to lose the test and series 4-0 of course. 3. 2013 champions trophy - everyone remembers the Ishant Sharma over but in the semi final of the tournament, he once again brings himself to bowl against mahela Jayawardene. Once again a decision of out was overturned. How many captains would do something so outrageous ? 4. 2016 world t20 semi final - at a crucial point of the game he brings in virat Kohli to bowl. Such a magical move , Kohli picks up a wicket first ball and give India hope. He brings in Kohli once again to bowl the last over. Once again, a very bold move but that was MSD. He just did it despite what the ‘experts’ thought. 5. whenever India won trophies he would collect it, but then would move away from the limelight, letting his team enjoy the moment. This was the man. He does things very few cricketers have done in their lives, leaves as one of the greatest cricketers ever, and he leaves the game the same way, just a single tweet from his home. Nothing more. So characteristically MSD. A true legend. AuxiliA and Ankit_sharma03 2

He brought up one of his centuries with a six over long off against seamer. I though the guy is badass cool. I'm old enough to remember the hype on the forums about young MS back then. Karthik vs Parthiv vs MS was a big thing, and then Dhoni left all the rest in his wake. SK_IH 1

I6MTW Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) Dhoni's 113 against Pakistan in Chennai 2012/13, coming in at 29/5. They still lost the match, but that was one of his best innings, and a very difficult one at that. It gave India a fighting chance. Edited August 16, 2020 by I6MTW AuxiliA 1
Khota Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 As a captain head and shoulder above Kohli, probably the best. Changed the batting order to suite himself. Full of crap and bs. The most iconic moment is when he announced his retirement. Seriously hurt Indian cricket for last 3/4 years.

Saba Karim was commentating in that and he said this long haired guy is from my state and plays that cut short with sword like follow through. This was in August 2004 iirc and Dhoni entered the fray of wking competition in December 2004 and sealed it in November 2005 against Lanka. Glorious years followed.
