Sonix768
Cricinfo is running an article in their magazine The Cricket Monthly, on the greatest test match deliveries of 21st century. It seems to be a top 20 list, in which 19 spots have been declared. the top spot is yet to be announced. Here is the Link: https://www.thecricketmonthly.com/genre/723 Each spot has a separate article, so cant paste them all. The above link is an index to those articles. The list so far: No. 20: Monty Panesar to Sachin Tendulkar No. 19: Jason Krejza to VVS Laxman No. 18: Steve Harmison to Michael Clarke No. 17: Mitchell Starc to James Vince No. 16: Sreesanth to Jacques Kallis No. 15: Andrew Flintoff to Jacques Kallis No. 14: James Anderson to Kraigg Braithwaite No. 13: Irfan Pathan to Adam Gilchrist No. 12: Jasprit Bumrah to Shaun Marsh No. 11: Simon Jones to Michael Clarke No. 10: Shane Warne to VVS Laxman No. 9: Andrew Flintoff to Ricky Ponting No. 8: Irfan Pathan to Mohammad Yousuf No. 7: Muttiah Muralitharan to Mark Butcher No. 6: Shoaib Akhtar to Adam Gilchrist No. 5: Dale Steyn to Michael Vaughan No. 4: Shane Warne to Andrew Strauss No. 3: Muttiah Muralitharan to S Ramesh No. 2: Mohammad Asif to VVS Laxman So, can you guess what would be their pick for top spot? and what are the glaring omissions done by them? What would be your top lists? I personally feel at least one of Zaheer Khan's deliveries (such as the one to Symonds) and Ishant to Ponting should be there. And Steyn also should have been featured there more than once. His ball to Dravid in Ahmadebad 2008 or Clarke in Perth 2012 were absolute gems. Jimmy Cliff and sandeep 1 1 Link to comment

Cricinfo had a memorable quote on this delivery which said something on the lines of "A shane warne ripper at 86 mph" or something. Jimmy Cliff 1 Link to comment

Coming to think of Austraian summers, Southee to Wade and Boult to Burns also could have featured there. both present in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tESI702hkLE Link to comment

Cricketics
Ball of the century things are overrated because it has a lot to do with how a batsman reacted to that ball. Grew up hearing a lot about Warne’s ball of the century to Gatting, and as good a bowler which Warne was, I don’t think it was the greatest delivery which commies keep hyping. Gatting just had no clue how to play that ball. Someone from subcontinent would have not probably allowed Warne to get wicket on that same delivery. Link to comment

People love to rank and argue about rankings - even if it is meaningless. diga 1 Link to comment

Gatting should have played paddle sweep to that ball, but English batsmen in 90s were very textbook against spin and didn't improvise like Sidhu or Tendulkar. Link to comment
