If everything goes according to the schedule, India will play 17 test matches next year. And if we qualify for WTC final, it will be 18 matches. That is the most number of matches India have ever played in one calendar year(way back in 1983).

This is the year that will seal legacy of current generation Indian team.. this could start and end some careers. What are your thoughts and expectations for next year?

Well SA Test series will start around Boxing day Test & the rest will be played in Jan 2022 including New year's test so I guess not 17 tests in Calendar year.

Lots of limited overs games as well.  SL Zim tour + Asia Cup T20 WC.  It'll be quite a year for Indian fans.  Hopefully some youngsters get chances in SL & Zim games before T20 WC.

Predictions:

in Aus: win in SCG, loss in Brisbane, 1-1

Eng (home): test series 5-0 win, 1-2 loss in both T20s and ODIs

Asia Cup: final loss against BD/Afg, skipper Kohli enhances his reputation

WTC final at Lord's: loss against Aus

SL, Zim who cares?

Eng (away): narrow 2-3 loss, should be a cracker of a test series

RSA (home): win 3-0 in ODIs, 4-1 in T20s

T20 WC: SF loss against NZ (end of skipper Kohli)

NZ (home): 1-1 test series draw, Kiwis will win T20 series 2-1

RSA (away): we win both test and T20 series 2-1

NZ to torment us as usual. Ind-NZ should be converted to 3 test series, anyone can fluke a 2 test series and they (esp Boult) have our number.

Along with series/trophy wins, I want our players to break some records.

Kohli/Rohit/Pujara should break Mohd. Yousufs most runs(1788) and most centuries(9) in a calendar year

Can ashwin break warne's most wickets(96) or Murali's most fifers(9) in a calendar year? He took 8 5fers and 72 wickets in 2016 in 12 matches

Mouth watering.

No matter what everyone says, I don't consider any intnl cricket as meaningless. Maybe its coz i have been watching it since late 90s and not a by product of t20 era.

Be it bi-lateral, triseries ..anything ... will never miss a ball if I can.

Edit - obviously away series are much better coz at home it's very predictable.

Top priorities....

1. Winning the WT20 @home.  Nothing less is acceptable.

2. Reaching the WTC final at Lords.

3.Winning the Series in England. Nothing less is acceptable x2.

Don't care about Asia cup (of course must beat poyzz but won't mind if Bang/SL win it. )

Don't care about SL and zim unless they try a lot of newbies.

Should win in South Africa (no AbD, philander, morkel this time) and I believe we will.

Will surely annihilate England at home 4-0 at worst.

Not sure about WTC final as doesn't look like we'll qualify.  Asia Cup will be a Indo-Pak final most likely as it'll be a T20 affair.

Agree with rest of predictions.

Also NZ ain't winning at home vs us.  They don't have good spinners.

What if one of the tests is D/N.....imagine Boult with brand new pink ball under lights on Eden Gardens greentop?

Under lights some one like ishant n bhuvi becomes dangerous as well. Plus eden has the problem of dew. In india most of these bowlers struggle coz they get SG in hand and they are so use to kookabura
