Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) We have been talking about reaching totals of 350 as thats where the world is heading in that case this shudnt be even a question. Also , ODI's Rohit in last 2-3 yrs has a s.r of 73 in initial 10 overs Jaddu at 7 has a s/r of 82 Iyer another slow starter Now do that math of how many balls are being wasted in 300 balls and our target was 350, this is why pandya is a must in this order coz we already are going behind our target Edited November 20, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03

But I would not pick a team thinking of such situations. What if team is batting first and 300-4 after 44th over...whom do we send - Pandey or Pandya? Think no.6 demands batsman who is a good striker and Pandya is the man. Having said that, Pandya played a brilliant counter attacking innings in CT Finals walking at 74/6. Without that run out who know what could have happened. Techincally better is also a mis used word for both Hardik plays bounce better then iyer and spin better then manish, it just that he goes for an extreme risk game which will have its failure coz its a risk 60-4 will happen once in a while which will also mean that one of iyer n manish is back in hut 90%,as far as i remeber pandya did it in CT 2017 n SA 1st test but no one was at other and in Ind-Aus during which someone was other end like 1st game where dhoni was there. 300-4 will happen most days Edited November 20, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03 Austin 3:!6 and Majestic 1 1
Majestic Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Btw, what is the news, is he not gonna bowl even a bit? If one of our main bowler goes for 60 runs in 7 overs, is he fit enough to fill up the remaining quota?
cowboysfan Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 so he is never going to bowl again? if thats true then he is no use in ODIs and he just made sure he will never be picked for a test side.
ShoonyaSifar Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 In T20Is yes, in ODIs, not so sure yet. Pandya hasn't batted enough in FC cricket or List A cricket to show his utility as a specialist batsman at the int'l level. Has got just 1 100 in his entire career (a test 100) and has got no batting pedigree so far except for his brilliant batting stats in IPL in the last two seasons
Khota Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 So we have all come to the conclusion that he cannot bowl. maniac and Jimmy Cliff 2
coffee_rules Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 He is only good for setting scores as a slogger. What if we are 50/4 chasing 200 in a T20 or 290-300 in a ODI? If he can’t bowl he is a one dimensional slogger, good for I1.

Nobody will do it at no. 6 except a fluke like Maxwell did it vs England. Kohli is idiot, Pandey played that knock and got injured. Once he came back from injury, he was made to play as finisher at 5-6 and it didn't worked enough because our top 3 would bat for 30 overs and then Dhoni would show up on crease leaving Pandey to do final overs hitting which is not what he is good at. He is still good enough to to score 80-90 even in that position IF he gets support from the other end. You can’t expect him to defend and attack at the same time. No one is going to do it Alone.

He will survive while attacking he can't anchor innings, not that it is a drawback, it is him rather who needs an anchor at the other end in situations like you have mentioned above coffee_rules 1

putrevus Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 He should not rush to bowl, he should take his time.Back injuries are very hard on any player but it becomes much more harder for fast bowlers.

He played T20 like innings 45 ball 75, out of 150 odd from India
