Both Gill & Shaw have done themselves no favours by this.  Gill especially was gone on a golden duck.  I think Ruturaj & Paddikal will get ahead of these mentally weak players in no time.

And how do you know ruturaj and padikkal are mentally tough? Their first class average is half of what Gill got.. grass always looks greener on the other side, if ruturaj and padikkal were playing and gone for ducks you would be calling for some other saviour

37 yo Saha (who was recently injured) over youngster Pant. Saha will avg in the 20s and a ceiling of 50....Pant will avg in late 30s or 40s and ceiling of 150. Unless his fitness is so bad that he can't keep for 90 overs/day I see no reason why they are doing this to the southpaw. Pant has to start in the D/N test and at MCG, if he isn't up to the mark they can always make the change in last 2 tests. For all the talks of aggression/intent this TM will always take a safety first approach.

Has been apparent since the WC that Pant has lost the faith of this TM. Public criticism by the coach, captain, batting coach, chief selector MSK all point to that.

The honorable thing will be not to pick him allowing him time to work on his game away from the spotlight. But they seem determined to finish him gradually. The trigger could be the huge public pressure to pick him for the WC or that he hasn't fallen in line to become a chamcha. He hasn't helped his case by not doing anything special since the 100 in Aus last year and hasn't responded well to the huge pressure since then.

Chodu team management. Also Shaw, Gill or any youngsters may fall but we should boost their confidence rather than criticizing. As for that captain coach already there , they will do musical chairs and rotate these youngsters in every test. Decker Kohli playing t20 as doesn't want to loose on glamour, why the heck Mayank and pant dint play this practice game.

Look at how Australia markets its cricketers ... even unproven ones like Green.

And we lack confidence to market our top international performers like Bumrah, Shami, Mayank etc.

How many times do we hear that Bumrah averages 20 in both tests and T20s. ?

Or Shami has one of the lowest bowling averages in tests in India ... Which is very creditable for a fast bowler ?

Or Mayank averages 57+ in test cricket so far, with 2 double centuries already ?  But we keep hearing about Marnus Labu...whatshisname, who too is doing very well in his short test career.

we market na ...dhoni n kohli who dont even need it but we still do.

Our Ex cricketers , broadcasters do their bhakti

They probably wanted to give both Wkbs some practice before series starts. Pant will play in next practice match, hopefully he can get a 50 and get into adelaide test

Kohli, Mayank, Shami & Bumrah are not playing this because they can play the next warm up game. I think that's a prudent decision.

How much money does BCCI earn from BCCI tv? I don't even see any ads on that site.. surely their youtube channel can easily get them that much? If India's home test heroics were on youtube and twitter like australia and england, our fans would market the youngsters themselves with regular retweets.. just look at how many views Bumrah's MCG 5fer video got.. Even in the upcoming series, every time he bowls a beauty, it will be on twitter immediately.. CA is doing more marketing for him than bcci ever did

We need to stop comparison of numbers etc..  Crawley had poor FC numbers than likes of Jennings etc.  Now he has become premier English opener alongside Burns.

I'd still like to see Shaw given at least two tests as guy still scored a 50 in his last test in NZ.

The guy who has not played much cricket scored a 50, while many of those who played in IPL and also in Aus are failing to leverage on some sort of competitive cricket they played

Pujara knows that he is the specialist player for Tests as he doesn’t play the paisa league, ODIs or T20’s. His entire focus and commitment is on these matches whether practice or otherwise. Our so called youngsters are already earning millions and can afford to play like **** in these test matches as they know they can always play the paisa league.I don’t have any hopes from Gill or Shaw. They don’t look motivated to me.

Kuldeep has nice technique plays close to the body.  His batting can be developed further I think.

He can bat but will be troubled against short balls. I think he can have Kumble like batting career

He has a Ranji 100 , averaged 25+ when he started playing for India. Instead of developing, his batting only regressed further in last 3 years

Yes ... we market only our Super duper stars like Dhoni, Kohli and Tendulkar  .... but don't want to market the other top level players or our team as a whole.

Shaw is extra aggressive, while Gill looks a bit nervous. They need to play more and more practice game but I think after this performance team management ll play Mayank and hahul as test opner. Shaw ll be backup opener while Gill ll warm the bench as rahane ll screw middle order in actual test.

Coz no even thought that that can be improved.  If he adds couple more scoring shots like square cut he can become a decent lower order batsman.

I remember he had a partnership with Dhoni on a green Dharamshala track & helped India cross 100 run mark on that surface.

Based on current form, it's quite visible why Pant is not even considered as starter. He is roughly 60% as good as he was in Australia last time. A good performance in second warm up will give him the nod but if both fails with bat, I expect Saha to start at Adelaide on 17 December.
