Pant will be the key, he scored 70-80 runs, we will definitely be ahead. 500+ has been scored by a visiting team at SCG only 4 times since 2000. Thrice by us in 2004, 2008 and 2018 and once by England in 2011.

Smith and Labu even after hitting 50s, got beaten by the movement off the pitch, slight swing or variable bounce on a number of occasions. That shows in Aussies losing 8/172 today. That does not happen on day 2 of a patta wicket. It's a very pitch pitch where bowlers will always know they have a chance or as a batsman you can score runs through application but with some luck. vaul 1

Anything over 250 as target in 4th inning and Aus will fancy their chances. 500 is needed for draw result.

Pujara can bat all day long but he has completely lost the instinct to score runs which he used to have notwithstanding his focus in defence. Rahane is primed for a failure after couple of good knocks as inconsistency has been pretty much consistent through his career path. Unless Pant shows up and puts in a 80-90 or even more I don't see we crossing 300. In order to save the match we need to hope rain play spoilsport. Yoda-esque 1
