Straight Drive Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Rajasthan Royals is one of the worst teams in IPL by performance in history of IPL. They also aw some of the players banned for match fixing and team was banned as well. With their captain having history of cheating with sandpaper and now the pitch tampering, this is the last thing they needed. A franchisee like RR cannot afford to have so many negative points. Smith should be sacked as captain atleast. Far too much negativity with RR and they just can't add to more of it. G_B_ 1
diga Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 IPL teams need to decide on player retentions by Jan 21... It will interesting to see the strategy of different teams given the uncertainty on the timing & venue for IPL 2021
dilliboy Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 The bigger joke is that they are thinking of making Samson the captain

Serpico Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 With two more teams added, he'll definitely have another ipl team and even captaincy. Ipl franchises prioritise branding over tactical use in their decisions and Steve Smith is still a big brand.. especially after those 62 ball hundreds he hit back to back

RR atleast have one trophy to boast about even though it came more than 10 years back. Not the worst in comparison.
Straight Drive Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 RR released him finally. They just got rid of negative publicity , something which they could not afford given their history as such. Good riddance.
coffee_rules Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Change the OP. He is released and Sanju Samson is the new RR captain. Good choice. I vote for Indian captains in IPL. Except for Warner, none were passionate enough for their teams. They act as mercenaries. cowboysfan, G_B_ and nevada 2 1
Sandeep99 Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 I feel CSK will buy both Smith and Starc this time around. Much needed impetus.
beetle Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 CSK buys Uttapa...cash trasfer from RR. He fits the age criteria. Wonder what they have against youngsters... nevada and Mariyam 2
