But his failure mostly goes to Root also who swept him like eternity and messed up his line and confidence.Apart from Pant there is no one  who can play sweep shot .

Looks like the bowling coach failed to plan an antidote for the sweep shot. It's not like the shot is a surprise weapon. Before the series started, it was known that it's going to be used heavily.

Nadeem cant be blamed alone for this test.Pitch was very slow without any turn on first day. What about selection of Ishant over Siraj ? Curator has to be blamed - he was saying there would be help for fast bowlers on day one.

Ishant bowled well. Of course he was going to be bit rusty having only played SMAT , but when he Shami and Jasprit are fit two or all three have to be in the team as first choice pacemen

I don't think anything wrong with selection given injuries.

Only question for me was Kuldeep, in for Sundar would be my preference, for variety in the attack. But Sundar batting bailed us out.

Really the pitch took any bowling teeth out of the equation. Not sure the captaincy was as good as it could have been in England first innings, but I'm not an acute enough observer to pass comment

Look at how Anderson used reverse swing at pace with accuracy ! Ishant was bowling reverse swing at speed of 126 that too mostly at shorter length. He took wicket of Butler when match had already slipped away.Archer was going to get out any way.Has he made any impact in match ! Bumrah also bowled poorly by his standards but al least he took 2 wickets on day 1.

Kohli, India captain: It was a pretty slow wicket with not much happening in the first two days with the ball. You have to give credit where it's due and we have to understand the things that we've done decently in this game. England played far more professionally. You need your bowling unit to step up and perform more collectively. It's okay, lack of execution is understandable. We're always learning as a side. Test cricket is a grind. England were ready for the grind and were far more equipped. Firstly start off with good body language, understand the fields, and at the end of the day it's the mindset. As a side, we're a side that always improves and knows how to bounce back. Yeah, Pant is a guy who likes to have fun on the field. That's his personality and it's very helpful for the team. He brings a lot of energy.

Yes they know to bounce back when you are not around, please catch Delhi train from Central and leave these guys be.

Although Nadeem's selection over Kuldeep was surprising but Nadeem was the top domestic spinner for quite a few years.

I won't blame TM for giving chances to domestic performers at home especially as a replacement for injured players.

It shows what's the level of domestic finger spinners...  I'll take quick through the air T20 leggies like Rahul Chahar or Bishnoi over them.

Nadeem was an absolute shocker but I understand his selection. Can he really not bad though? He has a century and 7 50s in FC. I guess he is like Kuldeep who I also consider a crap batsman but who somehow has some runs in domestic.

Selecting Nadeem was in no way a stupid move, yes he didn't do well but that can happen to anyone.

You can't have three spinners turning the ball into the right handers.

Now that he has proved he isn't good enough, Kuldeep or Axar will get a chance.

Kuleep should have been used as a surprise weapon...It can backfire too, but if it clicks  it can be such emphatic...Another one is Rahane.... was lot more likely to fail at home against stronger opponents, yet he was selected...
