Options for BCCI to get Bumrah back to his best?

Can't blame Bumrah alone,  but having said that he was mediocre in that match as well. Took just one wicket and largely looked non threatening whereas every NZ fast bowler looked dangerous. Matt Henry was unplayable.

In that match, Bumrah was coming back from stress fracture of the back. So, he was supposed to be sub-par.

This match was different and he was expected to do well.

Drop him. That's the straight forward way. But then it might not work he might just play for MI or else make MI the test team lulz..

Yup, has to be dropped. He was totally switched off. The guy came on the field wearing the wrong jersey. Thats how serious he (and the tam) was about this final.

When I created this thread yesterday morning, I thought he could do better in the second innings. But gosh he was so pedestrian from ball one. He should not be picked for the England tests along with Ishant.

The NZ pacers looked so desperate when wickets were not falling. It was visible that they were giving it their all. Trying to set up batters and bowling bouncers when needed.

Bumrah and Ishant were just going through the motions. Did not try to set up batsmen and hardly bowled any bouncer.

Only Shami looked to be giving it his all.

He has lost motivation, unpopular opinion maybe, but it is what it is

Looks to be the case. He came on the field wearing the wrong jersey! How can a senior player be so careless. Tat no one in the support staff noticed also tells you the kind of set up we have.

Utterly shambolic.

They will get a 20 day break. The team will disperse tomorrow morning.

What do they need a break for? The IPL was cut short in early May... its been almost 5/6 weeks then without any competitive cricket. BC they are more interested in sightseeing in UK rather than preparing to the max for a 5 test series where they have  chance of being humiliated. Players take cricket less seriously than our fans- we need to introspect and change our priorities

To give them time away from the bubble life ahead of a busy season (Eng tests, IPL, WT20 till Nov) is what the BCCI has said.

Its okay to give them a 20 day break. But once they assessable on 15th July, the 1st test will be 20 days away. The team needs at least 2 proper 4-day long FC matches, nothing is scheduled as of now.

I wonder why they shelved the India v India A games as planned earlier. Could have been played as a mini Duleep trophy, earning the UK broadcasters some revenue, and the level of competition would have been much better than the intra squad match bullshit. Most likely the TM chickened out fearing a loss to the A side.

Can they go and play a test match vs Ireland?

Well for Indian team what would that involve- would it it mean they are free to follow the same rules as UK residents when it comes to moving around the country and socialising? If so then they can definitely play county teams.. but I think they are cautious and dont want to risk interaction and potential positive cases. And this is for the first 20 days, what will they do from 15th July? they still can't mingle publicly as normal so this getting away from bubble excuse doesnt mean anything because nothing has changed for the team.

Theoretically they could play Ireland in england as the irish don't have to quarantine but it will be last minute logistics nightmare. All in all they will have 6 weeks of relaxing, intra squad play time and net sessions to prepare for a Ashes like series..:roti:

You know who would have been desperate and fight hard to win us the game, Thakur and Siraj.

They might not even done better, maybe even worse, but they would have fought for Team India and will get better with time. These are the players I want in the team.
