Pujara, Kohli, Rahane - all average below 30 since start of 2020 - why are they still guaranteed starters in a Test?

We got by because of some Pant innings, some good bowling and Rohit dominating at home, but otherwise, wouldn't someone have questioned such a poor performance by the middle order.

It was pretty clear what the problem we had in our batting,on the very day we suffered 36 ao in Australia

If there is a early wicket ,the middle order of kohli ,rahane and pujara is now utterly incapable of making runs ,but we let the win slide the apparent issues.

I also wish to add that I don't see any genuine long-term investments in nurturing young batsmen who can take over.

True, but we have not blooded them in the right positions against weak opponents, which is what a good team with long-term thinking would do. Gill was hastily shoved in as opener even though he could have played as middle order against Bang or some other team. Likewise, Sundar mostly played at 7 or 8, whereas he should have been given opportunities at 5 or 6.

That's never happened under Kohli. No young batsman has been given a decent run as seen as a threat rather than a talent to be nurtured. That's why Kohli and his retirement home continue to stink the place out.

Due to "form is temporary, class is permanent" theory. But I have never seen a collective terminal decline of an entire middle order in this fashion. These guys are repeatedly proving that they are not worthy of continued support of the selectors. They should take a break, fake an injury, retire outright or whatever it takes to get out of the playing X1. Or, the selectors should terminate their careers. Enough is enough.

Ever wonder why we only select reserves for openers and absolutely none for middle order? We carry around 7 batsmen to tour of which 3-4 are openers. The places of important people are fixed. Why was even Akshar Patel or Saha carried to England? Indian cricket is farcical.

the utmost  culprits here are  ex-players who always get diplomatic  in their comments. Even the likes of Sachin never speaks against any under performing player.

But when  team wins he has 1000  tongues to glorify the players who performed. Just can't understand their attitude  other than sucking to BCCI with  long term benefits in mind.There past players are the real culprits...

ashwin would have scored more than some of this trio - he has experience batting in eng conditions. and he is a far more penetrative spinner than Jaddu is on current form.
