Indian womens team in quarter finals. To face Australia. Chak de India .. didnt we beat them in some world championship finals..

on a serious note india women has indeed beaten australia once that too in Melbourne in 2016 in their first test.. 1-0..

What happens in movies stays in movies unfortunately. I have seen the women’s hockey team (india) and the Aussie women. It will be a miracle :((

Kamalpreet Kaur's personal best is 65.06 metres, a national record she set at the Federation Cup earlier this year. If she touches that she is a sureshot medal prospect imao

We had 6 top ranked in shooting in 6 disciplines

Those rankings don’t mean much. Not like other sports.

Like pak becoming the no 1 t20 team cause teams field weak squads and don’t play t20i seriously.

Yep, or our own team which top all the rankings, but don't win any tournaments that matter.

GB did a similar thing with cycling then hoovered up all the medals in the field

Britain got 1 gold and 15 medals in 1996 and it was deemed as hugely embarrassing. they set up a national lottery then with all funding going towards olympic sports.

Britain also somehow managed to get a popular leisure activity like cycling recognised as an Olympic sport with multiple medals.

now in 2016 they got 27 golds and 67 medals.

Added a bit more to the sequence.

I belive Indians now need to talk about the injustice of Olympic sports.

When judo can have 15 karate 8 freaking equesterian dressage lol 2 ( among 6 equesterian golds) and *ing 3 on 3 basketball has 2 gold seperate from basketball 2 other golds... But kabbadi or cricket can't have 1 gold then yeah India does not matter fact that India has 1/7 th of humanity does not matter at olympics.

If anyone uses Olympic sports to define east Indian athelitic ability speak to them about Indian kabbadi team or cricket team or Sachin Tendulkar and Pakistani should speak about shoaib aktar.

India and other South Asian countries will dominate sports that are played here not ones no one has even heard of. *ing judo and its 15 gold medals can wipe my arse.

Our team still wins bilateral and makes the tourney finals etc just chokes similar to tzu until today. Still a top team.

pakistans ranking was genuinely fake. Playing really weak teams and lesser squads. They never have the bilateral domination of beating aus in aus or eng in eng even.

Our shooters were shooting world class scores even though the competition wasn't of very high standards. If they can for example shoot 585-590 consistently in 25m pistol practice competitions, it shows they have all the skills. The below par show is inexplicable. But one glimmer of hope is it was a very young team. If nurtured well, they will be at their peak by 2024 Paris and can definitely land a couple of medals.

Also, reading what Manu Bhaker had to say about Jaspal Rana's behaviour as a coach during the tournament, the crumbling under Olympics pressure had external factors as well. Too many big fat egos in that unprofessionally run camp. The officials with the team do not care as they see these events as a holiday trip.

There is way more pressure on the Indian team than n.z

No one ever cares if n.z wins or loses in cricket in their country. It's all about rugby.

Not the same in India. Far too much pressure and kphli is useless under pressure. He is not an ideal captain for India hence we choke in semis and finals.

Any other half decent captain would have won multiple titles with this brilliant world class indian team.

Bhaker and chaudhary are world class and have loads of potential.

rest of the shooting and not so much.

archery is overrated. No cwg or Asian golds.

The infrastructure built for the CWG ( which could have been instrumental to build up our cycling teams is in a dilapidated state... likewise other olympic standard venues built for the CWG... clearly Kalmadi and congress looted public money to the hilt.

Japan is doing so well, currently ranked 2nd. Home support helps.

Home support only doesnt help. What also helps is if you are host country you get automatic qualification in all events carte blanche if you are within certain ranking. Even if you are not you get one wild card. So in essence if india was hosting olympics kidambi srikkanth, saina nehwal, jwala gutta would have qualified for badminton. If luck of draw went our side we could have had 2 quarterfinalists playing each other in few sports guaranteeing a medal or at least bronze play offs.in boxing we would have had 2 in all weight categories guaranteeing few bronzes. Same for wrestling etc . why do you think we were second in commonwealth games in delhi. We had more than 3,4 competitors in same discipline..

Also in some of the events the judges were biased towards Japan. Maybe Olympic committee payroll? Like in the men's Gymnastics final, where Hasimoto won etc. So a home country enjoys many benefits. Even GBR, and Brazil also had favouritism.
