Cricket, Rugby, Football are home nation sports so they play separately

WI are the exact opposite by the way lol.. compete as WI in cricket and individual nations in the Olympics

For the longest of time I thought that the WI was an actual country. Some ex British colony in Africa.

Awesome effort by Sindhu. She is really playing superbly.

 

In the SF, the opponent was just very good on the day and you have to give credit to her. Now Sindhu won two Olympic medals in a row and she is also current World Champion. Great stuff. 

 

For hockey, think Belgium will be too tough an opponent for India in Semis even if they win in QFs. It will be a huge upset if they pull that one off.

Ok so its a bit political here. In CWG they play as separate nations but in Olympics,the Olympic team name for Great Britain and Northern Ireland is referred to in branding as 'Team GB.' However, that is not the official name. The official name is the 'Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team.'

Northern Ireland is not a part of Great Britain ( but part of United Kingdom) which is why Northern Ireland is included separately in the team name.The International Olympic Committee runs the Olympic Games, and it recognizes countries within Great Britain as an entity of Great Britain and has done so since 1896.So it ll continue like this. There was a massive debate last time about sending a common mens GB football team in rio. They didnt this time as scotland was not happy playing with England. Lol when I go to Edinburgh and there is a cricket test or odi match happening the scottish taxi drivers say they want England to lose against India. The future of UK is hanging by thread more so after brexit.
