In these throwing events, wind plays a major role...indoor vs outdoor as well. Don't look at PBs, follow events where our athletes have competed head on against the best in the world, see how they perform there, a more accurate indicator.

He is no 2 in some jumping now. No idea what that means though

So basically the folks with the least penalties in 3 events win. You get time penalties and technique penalties. In dressage you have to run a set routine and based on the balance of the rider and the horse you get penalties. Cross-country you get time penalties and technique penalties for knocking over/banging into obstructions. Our man and horse got 0 technique penalties but was 15 secs too slow on the course and got 11 time penalty points in the cross-country.

In show jumping you get penalties for knocking over fences. Our man did really well till he got to the end and knocked over 2 fences just before the end and got 8 penalty pts (0 time penalty pts)

The folks with the least penalties over 3 events are the winners - although there is apparently a final just for show jumping. Top 25 in this jumping event make it to the finals. Hopefully 8 penalty pts gets him through.

The Sony Liv team got the prev Indian representative to explain the events.

He's out of medal contention in the overall event. Poor guy - he was heading for 0 penalties till the end. Still he is very young. Hopefully will do well next time. Still in contention for the jumping final.

Only event I believe where both Men and Women participate with no "Gender separation" ?

Was watching this on Qualification day.

When she says

Jab hamare area me ek ladki kuch galat karti hai to aage 100 aur ladkiyo ke liye raste band ho jaate hain.

Really touched the way she thinks.

I am rooting for her even more after that.

While i dont want to bring politics into this

Dhruv Rathee tweet (now deleted) suggesting that Srk is the reason behind the win (even indirectly) due to chak de india is a sickening mentality.

The girls and the immediate support staff are responsible for their own victory. Nobody else.

do you know india support staff sai and coaches are not even helping her and making fun of her. They stopped her from bringing her own coach tyagi. Also they are cohorts with seema punia who made allegations against her and asked to check for male hormones in her.  So after qualifying for finals she shouted some choicest gaalis in punjabi to them.

Naveen Patnaik, Odisha govt too deserve a lot of credit for Indian hockey's resurgence.

Absolutely the state is a real patron of the sport. Lack of cricket being the be- all in such places has led to rise of hockey and the states has capitalized on this. Other such centres should be looked at for other sports.
