They are current Asian champs.  Their raiding game has improved massively thanks to Kabaddi league.  Defence was always their stronger suit.

They will be favorites against India anywhere anytime as of now.

Good India will improve do you want to dominate a game with no competitors?

I am guessing time constraints for Cricket.. Even a t20 match takes 3.5 hrs minimum.. To have that many matches in a contracted schedule is quite difficult.

Kabbadi probably because it isn't 'western' enough

golf is 4 hours I think

Even if it is agreed.

how will England play cricket in the Olympic? There is no Team GB cricket team- they attempted to make one for the football in 2012 but that was a farce. Also what about West Indies? Will they play separately like Jamaica, Barbados etc?

You’re most probably right, England might play as GBR and WI as separate countries like Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, etc

BCCI's opposition to Olympics cricket 'disappointing'

The Secretary General of the Olympic Council of Asia has said cricket is giving up on the chance for "global expansion" by staying out of the Olympics

The opposition to a push for cricket to return to the Olympic fold for the first time since 1900 is being led by the BCCI and the ECB. Singh says he has been "very disappointed" with the BCCI's attitude on the issue for the last few years. India refused to send either their men's or women's teams to the last Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010 and Singh hopes they will change their stance for the upcoming Asian Games in the Korean city of Incheon in September.

Disappointing indeed.  They could easily send a bunch of up and comers with an experienced guy as captain.

On a related note, maybe 100s cricket would be a good Olympic sport!

Only 4 rounds though.. Cricket will require at least 15 matches depending on no of teams.. Difficult for a non cricketing nation to arrange for that

8 top teams and knockouts .Total 7 games

It should be implemented similar to Hockey.

12 teams qualify for Olympics. 2 Groups. 2 Matches per day.

Should work.
