Whom will you choose and your reasons as well ??

Or

Will you back pujara for 1-2 games , if so why ???

Please dont take names that arent on this tour like gill, sundar, shankar, jaiswal .

Vihari - he does deserve a game after his sydney heroics. He also can do the grinders role and can bowl if needed. He has been playing county so adapted to these conditions.

Shaw - with him it cud go either way, either he ll be an easy wkt or he ll change the momentum of the game . In such conditions chances of him doing well are less.

Among the names he is the special talent but these are testing conditions

Sky - same as shaw can go either way. But he hasnt been part of India A red ball so we have no idea about that aspect of his game in overseas conditions.

Mayank - i feel he has too many technical problems...way to many . Moeen ali is no lyon that england will give him hige chunk of overs and he can target spin.

Easwaran - whatever i have seen of him in domestic he looks a tight player and someone who shud do well in england but he hasnt played a lot of competitve cricket , may be that why TM was a lil concerned.... He may actually be badly out of touch.

I dnt rate vihari that highly but looking at all pros n cons he does look the best n safest option. He also deserves a chance as well .

If easwaran is in form then he ll be my choice but from this far TM is in better position to judge then us.

Even if he is backed, does anyone expect him to score big runs? He will score a struggling 50 at best. Give that opportunity to any hack for 5 tests and even he will be manage to score 50 here and there.

Mayank and Vihari deserve a chance.

I agree with Vihari getting a chance. Also he is the closest like for like replacement so team management doesn't have to change their plans much.

I'll go with either Mayank or SKY.  Mayank probably deserves to play his first test in Eng & see how it goes.  He will be 10× better than Pujara that's for sure.  At least when openers have given you 120+ run stand he can capitalize all right.

SKY is in a purple patch.  I like the way he plays his late dabs & tries to hit square of the wicket like Rahul.  Dodgy defence but still better than Pujara

netiher is a long term solution but i know Mayank is not a good option in England.i would go with Sky at 4 or 5.

Perhaps.  I think Mayank must be given a shot first up. He did alright in NZ tour & our highest run scorer.  We got NZ tests at home then SA away then tests against BD Sri lanka &,  eventually Australia.

Need players who will play spin well.

Kohli Rahane ain't lasting long.

For now play Mayank or Vihari.. Won't do much worse.

Come the NZ series at home, one of the other two freeloaders Kohli/Rahane should move up to no.3 and allow Gill to settle in at 4.

Will back him for third test and then make a decision for last two tests

the way he is playing...there is no point backing him for one more test...

But again...this should not be end of the road for pujara...

Ganguly has done it....pant has done it...rahul has done it....azhar has done it....so, he can come back strongly

I will bring in Shaw at 3

Why  ?

1)  He is in great form and that is often the key to success.

2)  He has worked on and rectified his technique that caused issues in 2020.

3)  He has a much higher ceiling than any other batsman being discussed.

4)  If he gets going, he will score very quickly and that can be a big plus in low scoring matches that are expected in England.

why do we need like to like.... do we really need another pujara aren't we frustrated enough with this pujara that we need another one.

Shaw is a liability on the field and not suited for these conditions. I would bring in sky for a couple of matches, if it doesn't work out mayank for the last

Or alternatively, give pujara another chance

Definitely dont want Pujara of current form but if he can do what he did in Sydeny and Brisbane then a replacement of that kind isn't bad.

KL is too good to be ''sacrificed'' as an opener in whimsical conditions of ENG. Put him at number 3.

Let Shaw open with Rohit and most importantly, have patience. Have the wherewithal both as a team and fans to absorb initial failures and struggles.

Vihari could get his chance if Rahane keeps failing. Otherwise have Gill in Rahane's place at 5 eventually. Gill can eventually move to Kohli's spot at number 4 in 2-3 years time or maybe sooner.

In this series, I'd like a playing XI that looks like this

Rohit

Shaw

KLR

Kohli

Rahane/Vihari

Pant

Jadeja

Ashwin/Shardul

Shami

Siraj

Bumrah

For our next overseas tour to Saffer land, I'd like to see the following

Rohit

Shaw

KLR

Kohli

Gill

Pant

Jadeja

Ashwin/Shardul

Shami

Siraj

Bumrah

I think after this 100 at lords Rahul's place at the top is locked.

Also, according to me the best place for Shaw to bat is no. 5 in place of Rahane coz he has troubles against swinging deliveries so why ask him to face the new ball but considering the fact that Rahane is going nowhere I"ll like to see Shaw play at no. 3, it's still better than opening coz our openers are usually eating up 20 overs before getting out

Also Shaw is the most talented player amongst all the above listed ones so definitely he should play.

Mayank won't do zilch in England, Vihari again isn't good enough away from home, Sky hasn't played much red ball A games.
