He can play only in place of Jadeja .I feel he would have scored more than Jadeja & taken more wickets .

The non selection of Ashwin is purely because these buggers and specially Kohli don't have faith on their own batting so they want cushion of Jadeja's lower order batting. Vaughan has already called this non selection as biggest blunder ,even Mark Waugh has said that Indian think tank don't have any clue. Only if our experts had spine to call it out.

2 batsmen who is not using their form fully + 3 hopeless out of form batsmen + 1 batsman who is not adapting to conditions -  To cover these guys Jadeja is preferred. Funny thing is after all the top order is gone he is left with tail. So he also plays a reckless shot and gets out.  Jadeja's performance largely hinges on how well Pant plays as he often times finds himself with Pant.  Effectively it makes him relatively useless. Kohli basically tries to create an imaginary balance with this one-dimensional unit.

His real utility will be realized when we we are talking about close matches where both teams win more or less equal sessions. WHen we get walloped by opposition like it was the last test Jaddu makes no difference  the side.

Ashwin's record is pretty much the best against left handers. 

 

Jadeja's record is also very good against lefties.

 

India carries four right arm fast bowlers, which creates a rough for the Slow left arm Orthodox bowler (Jaddu), now Jaddu can utilize this rough when he bowls to the lefties coz he can pitch the ball on that rough and the fact that he is a SLAO will help him to get turn into the left hander which creates lbw and bowled possibilities. 

 

Although he is not even close to how he used to perform as a bowler, so Ashwin obviously the better spinner but then our batting would have been weaker. 

Jaddu needs to perform with the bat to justify his selection.

He won't have enough partners to score big. Promoting him up is also not helping as he is not quiet a top order batsman yet.  That is the conundrum here.

bhai aisa kaunsa rough hai jo Ashwin use nahi kar sakta? He would have spun it away and occasional straight one which is very dangerous than just coming in.

I dont think so. 2 spinners is always overkill in SENA countries unless when conditions are very dry which has not been the case in England in this series. With rain around, you are better off having a seamer than a spinner. Now for the toss up between Jadeja and Ashwin, I guess they think Jadeja can contribute more with the bat and also add more variety as a LHB. But I think it would have made more sense to play Ashwin in this game over Jaddu for his bowling..
