because 5th bowler was Binny.Rohit could do that job

Bhai, we ended up having to bowl Dhawan in one of the Tests. You need a legit 5th bowling option in SENA. Binny was no world beater but he was at least a better bowler in English conditions plus was half decent with the bat.

Like changing the batting order - finally? Was that part of the template :cantstop:

Dude, Rahane's form has been so diabolical that it's hardly the worst decision rat has made this series. Let that sink in:phehe:

It was actually a good decision, promoting Jadeja to stop a flurry of wickets! Right/left combination does work from time to time & that was a massive moment both innings with Jadeja saving a tailender :cantstop:

Safety+ Rohit sharma

Rohit has always been hard for any captain to drop. Rohit the batsman always looked better option then binny and binny's bowling didnt come good in 2 test

So since it was a failed strategy, would you call it a tactical blunder?

I also felt persisting with Kohli after England went 2-1 up was a wrong decision.

In second innings, Jaddu did well to play out almost 10 overs. Everyone except Rahane cashed in after that.

in hindsight that partnership with new ball was indeed key.If Rahane had come then..

It worked at home coz jadeja was too good as bowler but overseas no one was godo enough

I wnt call pass or fail since we didnt have good enough choices

Jadeja then vs now is a completely diff case . To be successful with any idea u need right players or performing players

Such idea arise out of need so need was very much their and is always but solution wasnt their

Very aptly put by Nasser. I admire Virat's passion & energy but there is lots more to captaincy than just fist pumps, monkey jumps & spouting maa bhen after every wicket. I think the tactical bit definitely comes from Ravi Shastri as well, he has always been considered as someone who could have captained a lot longer.

Rohit is purely unlucky, he could have captained any other nation for half a decade now.

Kohli deserves credit for this test win. He made changes like the batting order which many - me included - thought were beyond him and for better or worse stuck to his guns in sticking with 4 pacers. Stubbornness is a bittersweet thing for captains even if you disagree with their choices.

A large part of his legacy will be shaped in his handover to the next captain. We need to groom a few batsmen capable of taking over from the 30+ ones we currently have. This is something dhoni did well.

Bhai Dhoni tou ko ek kaptaan bhi tyaar karke gaya tha, this guy has Rahane as vice captain. He still cannot phase out players like Ishant, Pujaara, Rahane.

Indian cricket is a rich commodity atm, in every aspect including talent but Virat will leave the next leader of Indian cricket with absolutely nothing with his current approach & aversion to building & backing new players

By numbers, he is easily the greatest Asian captain.

Subjectively he is average in some aspects and very poor in some.  Pataudi played 3 and even 4 spinners in one match because he knew India did not have quality pacers and spin options were the best the world has ever seen so far. Then he backed them with Solkar to take whatever flew near and around him.

Kohli did have Ashwin, but he also has great pacers which Pataudi, Sunny, Bedi, Kapil, Azhar, Ganguly, Dravid and Dhoni did not have. Pataudi and Sunny were forced for choice but Kohli has variety in top bowlers across spin and pace. There are better bowling resources at his disposal than any of Asian captain previously had.

Whereas in batting he jas to play batsmen who are averaging 35 and below like Rahul. He himself has averaged around or below 40 in revent past. Rahane and Pujara now do not average over 40 considering recent year iirc. The batting totally lacks class now. This shows that if Kohli does not has resources he fails to resurrect the struggling aspect of current test team.

He is winning because of bowlers being very good and other teams batting  has become as or more fragile and inconsitent as Indian team. There is nothing great about his decission making, selections or developing the current team or one for the future.

Like someone said, Dhoni was a bhagoda. Just ran away mid tour during before test against a challenging team at their home.

India never had a great captain. Not even one atleast since 1960's. Eveyone given the job has made blunders someme time or other. With Kohli the only advantage is statistical rather than subjective aspect. But to me the statsical improvement is because of couple of factors rather than his captaincy skills.

At least the ENG fans and pundits are seeing Virat for what he is and calling him out too. I think everyone indulged him for the longest time and many hoped he'd reign the ape inside him but no. Now everyone calls him a weird guy. Just plain weird. No camouflaging his cringe, embarrassing antics with words like passionate or driven. A dummy of a batsman who's also a dud captain with 0 man management and tactical nous.

So yeah, while India nominally drew/won the series against ENG with ZERO contribution from the rat, keen followers of the game can see he diminishes this team.

As the runs have dried up, he is trying to make up for it with even more aggressive ape like behaviour. He even taunted the English fans.

Gosh this buffoon Kohli fangirl is turning me into a troll

You are a freaking troll my friend.

Your head is so empty that it whistles in a crosswind , zero Iq combined with zero understanding of the game after investing so much time into it.

You are definitely a troll and you aren't even good at that.
