IPL is understandably top priority for our players, but how would it be jeopardized by their playing this game? Didn't the players test negative? Would they contract the virus by playing the game? Not defending the players or anything, just trying to understand the logic of the "IPL caused cancellation theory".

You do realise that players being close contact with a positive individual can mean symptoms/or test showing positive after 3/4 days which means further quarantine of players and a delay in leaving england for IPL and them missing matches.. thats the concern mentioned by the Indian players... its a simple logic, if you cant understand it then what can anyone do

And this is how it is. Any time, someone gets Covid, close contacts are quarantined. Physio had close contact with almost all players. All fast bowlers. I don't get how close contacts of infected can play. I am afraid most these close contacts will turn positive in coming days. IPL is over for them.

Are the Indian players or even one player quarantined (as if now) as you are proclaiming?

For the uninformed jokers in this thread who still think that there is no such thing as an administrative manager, here's another article:

Quote

What was Administrative Manager Girish Dongre's role?

For BCCI, the man under the scanner is administrative manager Girish Dongre. Dongre is an employee of the BCCI and is supposed to handle and also keep the team abreast about the Covid-19 protocols.

"The players are not supposed to carry the protocol sheets or remember every fine line written," another BCCI official said.

"There is a professional team of people who have to ensure that every rule is being followed and it was Dongre's duty to ensure that players are told that they can't get into an indoor area," he added.

where have you read that?

The matter is complicated by the suggestion that it was the players themselves who lobbied for the match to be called off, despite the BCCI initially supporting its go-ahead.

From Cricinfo- if the players were not concerned about the IPL, they could postpone the match by couple of days and ensure everyone is tested negative before playing

Dinesh Karthik, India's former wicketkeeper and current pundit, who flew home ahead of this Test to prepare for the IPL, has expressed similar fatigue sentiments with Sky.

"I spoke to a few of the guys. The general feeling is, after the fourth Test, this is tiring. Almost all of the games have gone down to the wire, they're tired and they have only one physio right now. They had two but one went down, along with a couple of the coaches.

"So they had one physio and they'd done a lot of work with that man and now he tests positive. That is the problem. If it was somebody else, somebody helping with logistics, they wouldn't be this afraid. But when this person got it, that's when they got the jitters.

"You also have to understand as soon as this finishes they have the IPL, soon after that the World Cup, and soon after that the NZ series. You're talking about one-week turnarounds, how many bubbles can they do? They assembled in India on May 16, it's four months almost now."

Be real . That is your only agenda which you try to nicely cover by showing fake concern for humanity and all.

You have a dick up your arse for some reason.

They are free to stop playing international cricket if the bubbles and restrictions bother them so much- just play IPL then. If you are paid big bucks to represent the country then do it with a full heart and accept the conditions. If you cant then say im out and go back home.

Thanks for explaining. But the players could still test positive if they depart England immediately, right? If they do, will they still have sufficient time to quarantine and join their IPL teams?

No one will fly out straightaway ( if there is a risk that players will be infected, thats why they have been told to stay in their rooms)- BCCI might use these 5 days to use as a quarantine period if any player test positive so they are still able to fly out in time for the start of the IPL. (just in case approach)

Speaking from your own experience, eh? Sympathies.

IPL has immensely helped Indian cricket and raised our standards. It's added to BCCI's clout and power. No wonder Aussies like you are in pain and want IPL to be derailed.

They won't be able to depart immediately anyway as they are quarantined.

Youre a special kind of stupid to not appreciate how the IPL has actually damaged world cricket.

Today is an example of that, there is many others.

ECB might face 40 million loss

The row over forfeiture or cancellation has huge ramifications for the ECB. If the match was forfeited by India then the ECB are covered by insurance for losses of around £40m, in the same way they would be if the game was forfeited for the death of a monarch or a terrorist attack.

But if the match was cancelled by Covid, the ECB are not covered by insurance leaving them with a huge whole (sic) in their finances, a year after losing £16m.

The ECB are furious that India’s head coach, Ravi Shastri, attended a book launch in London last week along with 150 members of the public. He was the first member of the India party to test positive. The book launch had not been cleared by the ECB’s covid compliance department.

The BCCI are refusing at this stage to forfeit the match and accept liability. It would mean the series is a 2-2 draw.

The matter could end up being resolved by the International Cricket Council’s dispute resolution committee.

I really don't know what the eff is happening? Shouldn't England players be more worried about contracting virus more than India's as person from Indian camp is found to be positive? Or Indians are worried or stressed that they may find themselves find postive in the middle of the test match? And how this bubble works? Moeen Ali was playing hundred and directly joined the team, Buttler has joined team after his wife's pregnancy, that lunatic Jarvo has entered the field for 3 times. Are not there any quarantine rules? The quarantine during Aussies series seemed very strict.
