Sanjiv Goenka interested in Lucknow franchise TIMES NOW. Think Ahmedabad will be the other one, looks like Adani is interested. Even Ranchi is in contention.

Should not limit to 10, enough space to expand to 12/14 and have 5 overseas players in every XI. Raise salary cap, make IPL bigger/longer/stronger, maybe have a mini-IPL in Aug-Sep with top 8 teams from the league which has a CT like format (tournament over in 2 weeks), lot of room left when it comes to filling entertainment/sports options on Indian TV and web space.

Brilliant move and not surprising.

The goal should be to have 20 IPL teams in about 10 years and find a 4-5 month window on the international cricket calendar.

2.5 months is not good enough.

This will ensure that the young budding Indian talent instead of going on useless overseas

‘A’ tours to become better cricketers and tour places like England, Aus, NZ, RSA better -  instead masters how to play aggressive T20 cricket in IPL.

Genius move by BCCI.

IPL becomes boring if they keep adding more teams..I think 8 was reasonable but with 10, 34 matches more..need at least 20 days more...

Its fun, BCCI gets more money, more power to control cricket.

Plus we get to see many more weeks of slogging on T20 pitches. It will produce many great cricketers for us, especially technically sound Test batters who will ensure that we keep winning in SENA countries.

Above all if an Indian league is expanding  its our patriotic duty to support it.

Hoping to see few more Zimbabweans, Afghans, Sri Lankans, Kiwis, and white South Africans get contracts.

No. More teams matlab we will see even more C grade Aussie Trash Cricketers. More slots are only good for the Aussies.

Be ready to welcome more Moses Henriques and Dan Christians in the future IPL tournaments.

Given our population and interest in cricket there is no reason why we can't produce players for a dozen ipl teams. We have gotten so used to punching way below our weight that it creates all these doubters.

Absolutely !!!! We should increase our cricketing weight and then punch proportionally

20 IPL teams in next 10 years. 40 IPL teams in next 20 years. We are 1.4B people with more  professional cricketers than the rest of the cricketing world put together. We should have at least 4-5 times more IPL T20 teams than the T20 leagues smaller nations like UK and Aus.

40 teams in 20 years would be fair.

Would be fun watching 300 odd round robin IPL games round the year !

And the best part is an Indian team would ALWAYS win.

Can anything be more exciting in cricket ?

Hell no.

Their are already many Sa

Zimbabwe is having some decent talent but will boil down to X factor

SL - doesn't have much talent

Kiwis- a lot of talent coming up n actually most of them are getting picked

Afghans- they have so many wrist spinners, more teams will mean they ll get picked

I wanna see more from England as they are producing freak white ball talent

Unless they get fat contracts (upwards of $350-400k), they will never be fully committed to IPL.

With Stokes, Buttler, Archer, Bairstow, Woakes and Malan missing for one reason or the other, the value of most English players will see a dip in he next auction. Especially after the pull out by Bairstow, Woakes and Malan literally days before the tournament and after confirming their participation just 2 weeks back.

I'd love to see Bairstow, Woakes and Malan not getting picked at all in the next auctions. Will be a good message to every foreign player to not to go back on commitments made

I'm thinking names to suit the teams. Going by how we copy stuff from US teams, I think Lucknow Cowboys, Ahmedabad Heat and Ranchi Steelers are decent names :cantstop: Definitely approve increase of teams. anything to crush the mumbai slumdogs of their monopoly :--D

if anything bairstrow will be in solid demand in next few yrs , high quality wk batsman will always be in demand

In the past players not fully committed to IPL have failed to get bidders. IIRC Finch went unsold in the last auction after pulling out of the auctions in 2019 (and has been bitter about IPL ever since). I hope franchise give the same treatment to this trio. I have nothing against them but it's absolutely unprofessional to pull out days before the event just 2 weeks after confirming your availability.
