BCCI must relieve him of ODI captaincy as well.

This proves 2 things:

 

1) He is quite selfless and want to improve his batting.

 

2) He is not as powerful as previous captains like Dhoni/Ganguly. It took ages for BCCI to push Dhoni out from captaincy. Remember under Dhoni we lost 4 T20 WCs but he still remained as captained. Kohli getting pushed out even though he has not yet captained in any T20 world cups.

 

I will not be surprised if Kohli retires from all cricket after 2023 world cup. Dont see hi dragging his career like MSD or even Sachin did.

Between 2009 to 2016, we won an ICC ODI WC and the ICC CT trophy. Plus he was winning almost every IPL.

 

None of this applies to Kohli's case who has been the test captain since Dec 2014 (nearly 7 years, Dhoni was test captain for 6 and a half years). In ODIs also, been the captain since Jan 2017, nearly 5 years, not a short period of time.

Sundar is injured otherwise would have featured.   Chahal was the only other that was in consideration. With Chahar doing well, no need of Chahal.

My conspiracy theory says BCCI could be looking to get Kumble back as the head coach. Apparently Dravid isn't keen for the role. Kohli's offer to quit T20 captaincy could be a trick to retain at least the test captaincy even under Kumble.

IPL winners bring picked for our LOI squads - no brainer. First CSK , now MI.

 

Though in CSK's case, some of the selections to team india were bizarre (Rhiti connection).
