So Nortje, Rabada, Umran Malik, Bumrah, Shami, Cummins, Starc etc are all 130 KPH and only Shaheen is Phaast?

These guys earn money from IPL all year and then criticize it outside

Disappointing from Hayden

you are right Austin...all these guys are 140 + guys but we have to accept that IPL was played on Patta tracks and except delhi and Umran and Bumrah , no other team even tried to bowl fast.

i was seeing bowlers who can bowl 145K trying out only slow balls all the time.

point i want to make is RAUF and Shaheen bowled pretty well and I can see Umran, malik also capable to compete with them, avesh khan too can come close to them, Bumrah nd Shammi too.

Shammi was trying  his variations and Bhuvi was trying his inswing which did not happen that day due to dew. if dew happens and their tricks fail , trundlers look easy meat to eat.

Rauf also was able to control our best batters where as Shaheen was looking unplayable.

check history when ever india pacers have won us matches, they have been due to inspired spells bowled by bumrah, Shammi , even bhuvi ( swing n pace). our pacers have not win us matches through tricks and incutters and knuckle balls...then why do they drop the basics of fast bowling at little short then good length ..high energy fast bowling , instead of becoming Unadkat and Patel.

unadkat and Patel may be able to do the tricks as they have mastered it but not SHAMMI and BHUVI and BOOM......do what u r best in....

boom is best in yorkers and bouncers at high pace, he had to do that. shammi is capable to bowl at 140 to 146K with a bit of swing

even bhuvi generates swing at 135k in full form but did he do that..??

Its not that he is completely wrong, if ipl tm or coaches still keep opening with Sakariya , Undakat, bhoovi, Sandeep Sharma and many others in other team. It's bound to happen. On these same pitches few days back in Ipl we were keep serving these buffet bowler and thought we are going to win wc. Trundlers are not good for anywhere, even if ball swings these trundlers are good for initial few overs. Mavi and Nagarkotti who bowled faster than shaheen are no where to be seen now, BCCI doesn't have any plan to bring back and even though you somehow get a good lightining quick his place is not gauranteed in front of these afore mentioned trundler. I am surprised that inspite of 13 years of IPL we still have these trundlers opening bowling in each ipl team.

Having said this Hayden is speaking like paxtani it's like when you are in rome speak roman. As someone mentioned kohli smack him for a straight six and same goes with sky. Prime kohli would have decimated him like no tomorrow same goes with Rohit or Rahul. As for these 3, fast bowlers are non issue it's just the choking habit which they have developed lately is main problem. I find all recent commentators and critics pretty shallow like fans they just get over excited and pass comments which is ephemeral , so i take his statement as highly as i take Harsh tahkur threads.

If that is the case, why does Afridi still have average bowling numbers in T20Is? Average of 25, ER of 8+

Average of 25 and ER is 8 quite good for internationals for such a young guy.

Starc couldn't do anything in Australia but if he did then I am sure his pace would be hyped up like this.

No bowler is going to pick a lot of wickets all the time. Starc has nothing to prove. He is a proven performer, already winning them an ODI WC. On his day, he too can run through teams. Cant say the same about Unadkats, Sakarias, etc.

Its been 3 years.

You haven't changed one bit bhai.

That's sooo not what he said or meant.

Do we really know what he meant? I don't think he is so dumb. He was there in IPL and saw bowlers hitting 150. My guess is here he was talking about left armers bowling 130s in IPL.

Just say OK and moove on. I don’t understand why we have to be so sensitive.

Let Aussies win against semi decent teams batting first,

I hope pitches get better as tournament progressess else team batting second in finals is winning it.

he was bowling 145 K with some swing and left arm...too difficult proposition. was bowling like Starc does and as if starc is maintaining line n length.

bcos Kohli was in good touch and that's why he played till end, rahul n rohit had also played the practice games but probably practice games were played with Low intensity.

i have played for some Mumbai clubs and on practically each and every famous cricket ground in Mumbai like Police gymkhana, Cross, AZAAD, One in Parel , one in Chembur and one in Vashi too.

we got  bit of green wicket twice when we had specifically requested to keep the wicket green. some clubs i played against always had one quick bowler if not 2. they were always fast in first  4 to 5 overs and it was very tough to play thru the first 5 overs and if I did scape through, it was high chance to get a 50.  With New Ball and swinging , if the opening bowler is attacking the batsman, even the best of batsman can get out. the guys I faced were 125K to 127K at least in first 4 overs and they were pretty quick. 140+ bowlers wont give the batsman any second thought.

like against spinners sometimes , i tried to play straight and if the balll was pitching on the legstump, even tried to sweep.

against fast bowlers , all batsman have no choice but to play with a straight bat, ensuring that the ball does not miss the bat.

when it was a slow bowler or spinner i faced, i tried all adventures, harakiri, slogs etc....many of our catches were split as club teams do not have good fielders normally. i have hit shots in gully and fielders have removed their hands , did not even try to catch. Many return hits were not caught.

against genuine fast bowlers, one has to just give the ball lil direction and the ball rushes to Boundary.  but do you know there are 80 percent batsman who cant play genuine fast bowling.

even a top player like Raina found it difficult to play Umesh Yadav, Shammi and other foreign pacers.

i had a mindset that i could face pace as fast as 125K but faster than that my eyes cant catch the ball.........how do i bat??? that happens with many batsman..

so i support fast bowlers.

Hayden like all foreigners is only here to milk huge ipl commentary cash but he has a point, I did a post earlier on how pakistan still have a lot more express bowlers than India, every young pak pacer is quick and do not compromise on pace unlike here in India, sadly people have short memories and all the good work our pacers have done over the last 6 years will be forgotten, Aussie and English commentators were going gaga over India's pace bench strength when our net bowlers were good enough to pick up 20 test wickets in the gabba test, now that India is down both Aussie and English former players will take pot shots at India, it's normal India has beaten them overseas and they are hurting but the blame should be on our selectors who have no foresight.

even khaleel ahmed bowled faster than shaheen, don’t know what’s he talking about ?

Rohit had Boult Milne Bunrah to practice & every other team

has a 145+ Bowler in IPL

KOLKATA : Fergusen / Mavi / Krishna

Punjab : Meredith / Shami

Rajasthan : Archer / Tyagi / Morris & More

Hyderabad : Malik/ Khaleel

Blore : Siraj / Saini

Delhi : Rabada / Northe / Avesh

Chennai : Hazlewood / Ngidi / Asif

Rahul just wasn’t expecting movement like that, he never had trouble with pace, it’s unexpected movement which only happened for those 2 overs which got them on the back foot. Hayden should be given a fitting reply by Indians..

Khaleel faster than Shaheen lol the last time khaleel played for India he was bowling 130kph and getting smashed by Bangladesh. Mavi is not fast, on average around 135-140 kph, shami did bowl quick a few seasons ago not anymore, avesh again is not quick, Siraj has been hitting great speeds off late, saini down on pace and prasidh simply does not learn.

I guess it was not the phaast bowls that hurt us, but more over it was slower bowls which surprisingly no one was able to pick in our middle order...

You're rating them way too high after just one game where the bowlers got KL and Rohit cheap. The team with "pacers who never compromise on pace" are yet to win a test match in Australia since 1995.

Dude pork bowlers can't sustain pace in tests.

India have far better and faster bowlers for test cricket. Porks don't.

They are faster for t20 which is like a biscuit league compared compared tests.

LOL. Of course. You're the expert, you know the best.

Dude we will be happy to have a guy who at 21 years of age is winning you a match against arch rivals averaging 25. No two ways about it.
