I think even then, there is a significant disadvantage of NRR. Ind will have to not just hope for an upset in the Afg vs NZ game, but also beat Nam in the last league game by a massive margin. Not easy and probably not happening.

Do you people Remember Pakistan's CT 2017 group stage performance?
They were destroyed by us, then even SriLanka had them on the ropes but just bcoz of one dropped catch of sarfaraz they qualified by a hair's breadth and went on to win the tournament, I don't think there's anything like 'deserving' to win as even when we were the best team in the group stages by a fair mile we went on to lose in the final stages while other teams who effed up badly in earlier stage went on to the finals and won.

Secondly, why do you people think that it's out of the question?
The way Afghanistan played against Pak they can definitely defeat NZ and yes they can defeat us too but I am thinking of the best case scenario here and I don't think that it's totally impossible.
We can win by a big margin against Nam, Sco and Afg and hope for the best for afg vs nz

These things happen with Pakistan but not with India even in 1992 they were 74 all out against England a sureshot loss but match got washed out while on last day they were waiting for West Indies to loose which happened and then they won world cup.

We lost to both the main teams.

 

Unless NZ lose to Afghanistan, we are done.

 

Even then, we might be done due to NRR.

Let's assume that happens, do we have the batting & bowling to enforce the NRR ?

If Afghanistan beat NZL, they will advance to SF, even if they would be defeated India, due to their very high SR. If they are beaten by NZL, then NZL will be in SF.

Where there is a slim chance (extremely slim) is that Ind play Namibia in the last league game of the tournament. Assuming they know what they need to do, they can try and still qualify. Easier said than done though.

 

I do believe the team doesn't deserve to qualify though.

It will be bad for BCCI if this happens as we are the hosts. I am assuming it is our responsibility to keep the bio bubble secure.
