Lack of talent.

yes, there is a lack of talent. (1) no proper middle order bats who can score at 140-150 SR from the get-go, (2) no proper wicket-taking spinners (instead, we have either defensive bowlers or so-called "mystery" fakers), (3) no ARs or at least multi-dimensional cricketers (like root who could chip in with ball), and (4) no pacers who consistently crank it above 145.

We have a lack of talent of captaincy, not bowlers and batsmen. Skills can be bettered, not leadership qualities.

Exactly, what good is talent when its not given oppurtunity, plus if ur tm does brainfades after brainfade what can talent do ,if we had lack of talent we wouldnt have won in aus and england forget about winning ,the issue is stupid decisions and lack of vision from captain, when dhoni got odi captaincy he wanted youth in his side and wanted the selectors to give them a window of 40-50 odis before wc to gain experience and make them ready ,problem is our current tm gives on young players, who need backup ,a young player need assurance and comfort not task.master like kohli, you can sense a panic when they are around kohli

I don't think a single player barring Pandya who has let down his team getting the backing from Virat. This is exactly opposite of Sourav and MS when they were captains. Glad Pant came back and proved his own captain wrong in Aus.

This man although the intent being positive is not a good captain. His ego comes in the way and he makes stupid decisions which cost both Ind and RCB. He simply cannot get the handle of captaincy.

Nope.

It is lack of power...full stop. Harsh reality.

When pitches are tough and boundaries big, sometimes you just need shear muscle power.

There is enough muscle power, apart from Loli all others are capable of hitting big & clearing any boundary. It was a case of vicious cocktail timid batting, batting first after losing toss and taking pressure of big occasion

Disagree - the record of some these batsmen in recent years especially IPL just shows how far behind there peers in terms of power hitting.

Rohit/Rahul/Pant/Kishan/Pandya are all power hitters but they just dont have the variety in their hitting. Only Rahul & Pant are capable of all sorts of shorts but Pant has regressed quite a bit.

MSD masked a lot of flaws in Indian white ball cricket with his brilliant captaincy and advise to spinners especially. He continues to do so for an over the hill old man CSK team

Pant, Rahul, Rohit, Hardik, Kishan and Jaddu .. all hit big 6s regularly.

In these 2 games, they have not batted with free minds and have looked circumspect.

We beat australia and England in pratice game with ease.

It is not talent it is pressure our players are not able to deal with  body language does not look good

Either it has to do with captain or coaching staff

one more thing is fatigue/poor fitness we have lost atleast 2 to 3 world cup when we played WC right after  IPL.

I didn't really like Pant leading DC at such young age, what followed is,Pant curbed his natural flair in t20s

I would like him to open in LOIs for India now

We always had a history of all in form batsmen getting out of form simultaneously, this is no different

He has to start with opening for DC, he will always be a failure in middle order with the way he plays

Sometimes i feel,he is not sure about his plce in the side or maybe he has still not recognised his strength, yes you re right he needs to find his feet as an opener in DC first but like Thaliava he has opted for that fraud anchor role which will lead him nowhere,he is a huge modern LOI prospect but needs to back his strength and things may align for his liking, with useless egomaniac going he and others may get an environment to blossom

Problem is we need to leave out Rohit & Kohli from ODI & T20 & start with scratch.  Invest in Kishan & Pant & keep Rahul in the mix.

Gaikwad

Paddikal

Kishan

Pant

Rahul

Venky Iyer

Abdul Samad/ Abhishek (invest)

Shardul

Siraj

Bishnoi

Bumrah

Reserves : Umran Malik Tyagi Avesh R Chahar Shreyas Iyer SKY
