Out of the box thinking: Make Rahane the T20 captain

Shreyas Iyer is the best option available right now. 

 

There was a time when we used to have 5-6 captaincy options in the team. Dhoni, Yuvi, Sehwag , Raina, Gambhir.. Now we don't even have that many sureshot first XI players in any format.

Pant should be the captain .. he needs time to evolve .. I don't see any other option.

Some expert said we need to move on from 2010 cricket ..so we don't need 2010 players.

Agreed. It's is really unfortunate that Sundar got injured during the England series, it ended up affecting the balance of the squad.

 

He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, one of the better bowlers in the PP and if persisted with can turn into a good spin bowling allrounder who can eventually replace Jadeja.

Rahane leadership > Iyer batting. To explain Iyer is a much better batting option but Rahane’s leadership skills puts him ahead. I have huge respect for him for what he did in Australia. The man won a match at the Gabba with a bowling attack of Natarajan,Thakur,Siraj,injured Saini, Sundar and got the team to bounce back from 36 all out. He is the man for crisis.

 

I remember Australia bringing back Bob Simpson who was past his prime and retired back to just pull them back from the Kerry Packer crisis. Simpson went on to eventually become coach and Aus won the 87 WC and that generation onwards turned out to be the greatest cricket team of all time. 
 

I see that in Rahane. Rahane will take the future template and Dravid is the best man to compliment him. We will never choke again.

Making Rohit the captain might be logical choice but the whole issues with Kohli might be a baggage.

 

We have 2 tournaments, WT20 and WC and Rohit will be short term option anyways because of the age factor. However all these politics and MI lobby crap might weigh him down.

 

Pant, Rahul are not ready. Rest are not even sure of their places.

 

Rahane has inspired a broken down and injured team to a historic win in Australia.

 

He can be a floater like Smith or Morgan and play when there is a collapse but I think he has the respect of the team mates. I have seen him speak about cricket and I am impressed with his cricket acumen.

 

Dravid coach and Rahane captain and give them a young fearless team and we will see results.

 

Rahane is a fighter. This may sound like a ridiculous idea but this is not what we want but what we need.

 

Make Rahane the captain and save Indian cricket from these politics and petty squabbles.

Rahane is a great test captain but he doesn't get into the team based on his ability to bat lmao.

seems like people are throwing in all kinds of names. might as well as just the queue and throw some more random names: Shaw or Gill since they are young, can merit T20 selection (one as dasher, other as consolidator), and have some experience. or if I wanted to go full-on troll, let's have shastri become captain. he will down the beers faster than a tracer bullet and inspire the team to win after win; on a more serious note, shastri was actually a damn good test captain and bloody-minded test player who proved to be a surprisingly effective opener.
