we keep talking about India and England but these guys have more or less bosses international tournaments.

I know stats say that but that's not the reality.

 

WTC Finals Qualification: Had Aus vs SA series happened, NZ wouldn't have qualified if I am not wrong. Even in the finals, Indians lost from an easy draw position.

 

WC 2019: NZ should have won it but they bottled too many important moments. I would give it to them. But still feel Eng were the more deserving team. NZ looked like taking a surprise win but didn't happen.

 

World T20 2021: This is a tourney where luck plays an awfully important roll in toss. But don't wanna take credit from them.

 

WC 2015: Everyone and their mom knew Aus would win it. Plus had SA not had quota BS, they probably would have entered the finals.

 

So all in all, NZ have kept it professional and things have aligned well for them.

 

Some things are just meant to be.

 

Maybe if the same trends carry on, they might win this. Will be interesting to observe.

They were robbed off a trophy in WC-19.. The trophy should have been shared at least like you mention

 

WC-15 was poor scheduling.. they played all their matches in NZ (incl the semis).. and suddenly play the final at MCG which is twice the size

NZ don't have superstars. They keep it quite professional and their nice guy image also doesn't seem to be fake any longer for me.

 

Mitchell didn't take the single in such a high pressure situation because he came in between the way, what a fair play that was! Not many teams will do that, let alone in such a situation.

In a tourney, everyone is better than India.

 

We have embodied Saffer mindset completely.

 

Unbeatable in bilaterals (have we even lost anything in the last few years) and hopeless in knockouts.

 

Since 2015 CT, we have won a knockout game against a top 8 side only once.

 

Aus 2016 World T20 QF.

Even that required probably the greatest T20I innings ever played. Kohli.

 

2015 WC - Won against bangladesh QF. Lost against Aus.

2016 World T20 - Won against Aus QF. Lost against WI.

2017 CT - Won against bangladesh SF. Lost agains Pak.

2019 WC - Lost against NZ

2021 World T20 - lol

 

Unreal stats.

 

Lost against Aus, WI, Pak and NZ in knockouts in the last 6 years.

They are a great team. Lets be honest, everybody expected India and Pakistan to qualify. I didn't really rate them this highly for this tournament, but they have been brilliant. They are disciplined and efficient. They don't have huge household names, but they have players who do enough.
