Toss was a factor in the knockouts with two best teams in eng and pak getting knocked out.

India getting destroyed by shaheen and boullt and failing to clear the big ground in Dubai had nothing to do with the toss.

True. But these players also had mental fatigue probably of playing non-stop cricket that Pak made use of. Full credit to them for exploiting that vulnerability.

Many teams gave batted first & put a better fight than us.

Failure to take 1 wicket with a pi's* poor attack vs Pakistan.   Taking a gamble on useless Chakri...  When leggies were doing so well in tourney.  Even Ashwin looked better.  Bhuvi's being king of Trundlers still in playing XI.

Vs Kiwis showed zero gut.  Phattu gutless performance I have ever seen.  Not hitting a boundary for 70 odd balls in a T20 is unheard of...  Even from PNG & other minnows.

We were just pathetic as simple as that.

and india is bidding more & more on hosting icc tournaments.

We are having 2023, 2031 & atleast 2 t20 worldcup. We were host in 2011, 2016, 2021 as well. England is more than us as well (2013,17,19,21) Why not host it in South africa, West indies/USA?

because SA and WI don’t have money to host world cups- SA is a very good alternative for a host country compared to England as it has good weather and a good  prospect of Indian support in the stadiums.  But unfortunately these two boards don’t have the money anymore. Even Sri Lanka/Bangladesh on its own never will now.

so that leaves us with only India, England and Australia hosting tournaments; NZ will piggy back off Australia to host a few games.

Pak is a bikhari nation hell hole which no country wants to go so they can’t host it at home so only alternative is Dubai. And we’ve seen how crap the tournament is when hosted there. So as a cricket fan you don’t actually have much choice in where the WC are held

Anybody has stats around Win Loss %age after winning the toss ?

There has been 2 instances where team batting second has lost.
Eng SL - England won by 23

South Africa England- Africa won by 10 runs.

Sl Windies- lankans won by 20-+
runs

thats all games involving India Pakistan nz eng south africa windie australia Sl including finals amd semis. So 14/17 games won by team batting second. You can add fndlies where team batting second won it

As posted in sn earlier thread we cry that nz is our bogey team but believe me or not all the imp matches we lost against them wtc test series wc sf and here we lost toss in all those matches.. who knows what would have happened if we even one one toss of the five.

Luck is a part of team sports. If the result depended on toss, it is likely that luck was smiling on the team winning the toss. If toss is not a factor, luck would assist in some other way such as through a run out or something else.

Sure India were gutless against NZ. No intent whatsover..

but when you have a Target in place. The mindset is different. Dew helps too...

Plus the confidence. We have phenomenal record chasing... beat sorry bashed Aus and Eng in warm ups while chasing. I am sure we would have put up a better effort while chasing. Also,it never helps when your captain admits after toss that winning toss and fielding is an advantage. There is added pressure straight away.

i wonder with such advancements in technology, is there nothing to counter DEW, some solution or something in and around the stadium which reduces or doesn’t allow DEW formation.

There is buy you can't totally get rid of it, not to mention the alternatives may alter/damage the ball.

still people have come up with different solutions, don’t know how relevant for a big stadium, but people use this for Turf grass & for a large area
