Is Saha overrated?

We saw Srikar Bharat pull off some good catches and a very good difficult stumping as a substitute and hopefully, he can bat better than Saha as well.

Saha as a Test batsman has been quite abysmal. Even with FC batting average of 42, he cannot even manage a 30+ average in Tests. Compare that to Dhoni (Test av: 38), Pant (Test av: 39) and you can see a huge dip in keeper contribution to batting when Saha is playing. The argument in favor of him was that he is the best keeper in the country. However, if even Bharat is able to keep so well, it makes you question the basis of that argument.

Should Saha now be dumped for good?

Rahane 61 (only 50 in 16 matches). Kohli 72 (Has 3 50s in 12 matches). Pujara 91 (4 50s in 16 matches)

Pujara still better than kohli. :hatsoff: So if pujara should be dropped then so should be Coolie.

Who rates Saha? He is a good keeper nevertheless , but past his prime..Today he played a decent knock..

Im fine for Saha to be back up but he must step aside now.

His sore neck gave Bharat a chance which was a welcome opportunity. One article said Dravid has been impresssed so overall no harm done with this selection.

They put him on a pedestal after a couple of good catches in a few matches. We overlooked all his mistakes.  He is no better or worse than anyone. Especially against spin he is just okay.

Is this ignorance or trolling? He has been the best keeper in long format by a country mile in last 3 decades. It's his misfortune that his peak years has been ruined because Dhoni had to be played as a wk-batsman even though Dhoni has been pretty ordinary himself  in Test cricket specially during his tenure as a captain.

It is indeed true that playing Saha right now does not make any sense given his age but please don't disrespect a true hard working cricketer who has achieved everything from scratch without any lobby or backing. Even today he got India out of hole inspite of playing with injury. If our so called IPL superstars would have shown even 10% attitude and stomach for fight as Saha, then we would have won lot more in recent years.

The era of pure WK is long gone. Batsman WK are the need of the hour.

We'd not won in Aus if Saha kept playing above Pant
