It was a great game of cricket and Curator needs to be applauded for creating this pitch which lasted whole 5 days.If they win hunger is there but if they don't win hunger is not there? What kind of logic is that?

These are pathetic pitches.

No tyrn.

No bounce.

No value for shots.

Coaches definitely have inputs in selecting final XI as well as strategies. For example when dravid as captain declared with sachin at 194, chappel was equally involved

I absolutely agree. But we over estimate their impact a great deal. Especially if they are 2 weeks into their role. At this stage, he is probably only begin to understand his players. And no coach will come in an dmake wholesale changes.

John wright was the Indian coach at that time

Pacers

Look how Southee and Jamieson bowled. And then there is our Lambu

You can't expect spinners to pick all the wickets. or else play 4 spinners like we play 4 pacers in SENA.

Every pitch has it own characteristic, stop bickering about bounce.

Could fast bowlers take wickets? Answer is yes,

Were spinners able to get wickets?Answer is yes. They had to work harder for their wickets. We don't want bunsen burners.

Could batsmen score runs on this wicket? Answer is again yes.

Did the match last five days? Yes.

List of reasons we didn't win the match:

1. Absence of GOAT captain.

End.

Actually true. He would have spanked the asses of the kiwis wasting time. Would have hurried through the overs. Created more noise near the wicket. The lords test was won with intimidation backed up by good bowling. At home conditions we need an enforcer.

No prizes for guessing what kiwi curators do. They prepare pitches for 3 day finishes and we then blame our batsmen. Here we had chances to prepare a turner and we prepared a soda

If India had one decent seamer we could have nailed Ajaz patel. He looked like more comfortable against spin.

We weren't allowed to bowl pace bro due to bad lights iirc.

Selection of Ishant Sharma, gritty batting by Ravindra & Patel, $hite Happens, opposition are here to compete, so credit to NZ. It was not a result oriented pitch, we created a door to victory, but couldn't finish the job. I would have loved a little contribution from our seamers. Time to look forward to Mumbai Test.

I'm not going to read a single post in this thread.

There aren't "reasons".  There's just one.

Batsmen. keep. failing. to do their job.

That's it.  Rest is all secondary and tertiary 'reasoning'.

You are right about main/senior bats, but at home we have been winning with lower order contribution too. Here too we eventually scored 345 and 284-7

I think fans have accepted batsmen failing so looking for other reasons instead of elephant in the room.

We blame our batsmen because we want them to overcome the difficult conditions and score more runs than other team. There was no need to prepare wickets like England series for this series. We want our spinners to be skillful rather than being dependent on wickets doing their jobs.

There was no excuse for Indian fast bowlers to pick so few wickets, they have to do better and that is where they lost a chance to win. Question is Kohli making these fast bowlers deliver, I have not seen such passive performance by Indian fast bowlers in a long long time.

Issue is if we focus on learning and skills we wont be even in wtc finals. Ashwin is 35  and Jaddu 33. Aur kitna skills chahiye. They have 650 wickets. England regularly provide us with green seamers. Same does nz. Infact only Aus has given us sporting wickets.
