Good year for bowlers. Not so good year for batsmen.

Playing IPL in two phases really damaged India's chances.

Worst part is that from among the young heroes of Australia series win at the start of the year, Gill, Pant, Shardul, Sundar and Siraj (honorable mention Vihari) , only Pant has a permanent place in the test side.

Siraj still doesn't seem to have the complete confidence of the captain

Shardul remains on the fringes

Gill has been hot and cold and injured Sundar derailed due to injury and

Vihari hasn't been deemed good enough to get another game.

What should have been a year of domination after that Aus series win has been turned into another average year, all due to an incapable and insecure captain. A year of missed opportunities.

Three important losses

Lost WTC final

Lost to Pakistan in world T20

Lost to NZ again in world T20

Other issues

Backed out from 5th test

IPL intercepting the international schedule twice.

Kohli's exit as captain

Cold war with Ashwin

Trimurthi's horrendous form.

Bad luck

Toss losses.

Shastri's exit, Dravid's entry. We have to wait and see whether it will get better or worse.

I regard it as a poor year. There were 2 crucial matches: Ind vs Pak in T20 and Ind vs NZ in WTC. We flubbed both, and the first in particular was a debacle. Add to that the big loss against NZ in T20 WC and then the draw in Ind against them as well as the loss against Eng at home. The seams are coming apart.

Our batting is cr*p and the bowling is having to save us time and again. most of the young heroes of Oz tour are missing.

I have been a believer in Washington Sundar since before that Aus tour.  And given that he played so well against England in India after that, he should have been in the SA squad if fit.

Washington Sundar should be a fixture in that #5/6 batting slot for India, and very soon.

Siraj is going to get his chances in SA, lets hope he has blossomed enough to continue his trajectory - he's been very, very good so far.  And has the opportunity to start making his stake towards great, should he put up some proper lead dog paceman numbers.  And I believe he can do it.

We are going from Bharat Arun to Pharas Mambrey.  Don't know how much that matters. I am going to keep my fingers crossed

Great year in test cricket with success in Australia & England...  Although would have liked series win in England with all the momentum we had..  Still 2-1 up was a good result with chance at history next year.

As usual disappointed with our boring LOI cricket & mediocre results.

we beat Aus 2-1 away and Eng 2-1* away. got to be the best test performance in recent memory. if they top it off with a win in SA it's without doubt the best year ever.

The biggest was the WTC loss. All the others can be justified. Even the t20 loss against pakistan as we lost the toss and 92 perc of teams who won the toss won the match including semi finals and finals. So that was a sham. The WTC loss hurts as we only had 2.5 days to play and had the best batting conditions on day 6. If we would have batted 15 overs more, just 15 overs we would have drawn the test as they would have had to chase 180 odd in 35 overs which would have been tough chase if quick wickets fell. The other two test losses one in chennai was again a sham due to the pathetic pitch as day 1 and 2 it was flatter than marble floor and was like a stable on day 5. The final loss was in england which could again been avoided if after winning toss kohli would have bowled..

he is quite fit, and he should have been in SA. only worry is that his batting in VHT has looked rusty post-injury, but his bowling has come along nicely.
