rangeelaraja Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Yes, it is early days. But Dravid is not new to a coaching role in India. It is also mighty unfair to think he can rehabilitate material like Rahane and Pujara ( they have been over the hill for a while ) What worries me is that I don't think he is the sort of character/coach who can inspire a team ( maybe I am being judgmental / prejudiced ) ...but I've had this feeling for a while. raki05 and Under_Score 1 1
Pollack Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Dravid has reluctantly accepted this role.(indian team coaching). He is a meek character, always has been. His IPL stint as a coach wasn't so good either. asterix and raki05 2
HamHindustani Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Dravid's best contribution will be in correcting the techniques, which best works with Under 19. The seniors already believe they have the best technique in the world raki05 and nevada 2
sensible-indian Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Nope not too early. Though can't make a definitive statement about his tenure at this point. His decision to back Rahane BOMBED big time and he and only he is responsible for it. Pujara should have been dropped too but that blame can be shared by others. I truly hope we win this test and walk away from both. Enough is enough. asterix and raki05 2
sensible-indian Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 What truly scares me is not Dravid or even Kohli. It's KL the captain. I would ANYDAY take a no run scoring Kohli as captain instead of KL. Maybe KL can improve but his body language is AWFUL. Scary scary ****. express bowling and raki05 2
diga Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 (edited) Lets see the decisions after this tour is over... Surely atleast one of Rahane/Pujara has to be dropped if not both & we need to urgently induct a left arm seamer into the mix In 6month - year time frame, our Fielding & Slip catching needs improvement as well as opening batters ps: NZ series last month was just a familiarization trip for Dravid, SA was probably where he could bounce off some ideas to see what sticks and what doesnt.Based on that he needs to take a call once this series finishes Edited January 14, 2022 by diga
New guy Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Which is why a new coach needs a young csptain to work with and mould the team. Do you think kohli will change anything just because there is a new coach? Clarke 1
ravishingravi Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 No expert on coaches. But coaches dont play on cricket ground.
goose Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 there are deep rooted issues with indian cricket culture (society?) that allow players like ishant and rahane to carry on way past their use by date. i have not actually seen a serious thread on why this happens. the hope is Dravid brings some integrity to team selection. express bowling 1
ThirtyD. Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 (edited) Not too early at all because he was not on selected on merit basis. To start with, Ganguly's whole tenure has been disappointing and no different than other nincompoops we've had as BCCI chair. None are interested in developing and modelling Indian cricket future but only to milk the popularity we carry today. Australia series win was fluke, not in the sense of performance but team selection. We were forced to make those changes and managed to win because players on the fringes had lot more stake in these games than those who have nothing to prove. Why can't the management pull up the seniors who fail to take up responsibility and show no remorse for poor performances that have lasted 50+ tests? It boggles my mind when these dickheads come out and thump their chest as if they have conquered the world and are merely doing a favor by playing for India. Edited January 14, 2022 by ThirtyD.
diga Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Churn started.. have to wait to see if we get the butter
vvvslaxman Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 His first job is to get the balance right. Right now this is a bowlers or bust team. Bowlers cannot do well in every single match.
