Nikola Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 (edited) Options: Rahul (long term) Rohit (short term till WTC final) Pant (long term) Ashwin (short term till WTC final) Bumrah (maybe will be vice captain) Kohli giving up captaincy in between from test cricket looks bit immature to me. He didn't let youngster develop & kept backing pujara & rahane at #3 & #5 so there is no successor for him in test cricket. He should have stayed till end of WTC cycle atleast. For now i guess i will go with Rohit as captain along with Pant as vice captain till end of WTC. Edited January 15, 2022 by Nikola
Norman Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Ideally I'd like Pant to take over but it'll most likely be Rohit until atleast the end of this cycle. beetle 1
neel roy Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Rohit. He is indias best test batsman for last two years. Rahul was not even going to play england series till mayank got injured. Let rahul be more consistent. He is gradually getting into groove.
Suhaan Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Kela is no option, Only way is to go with Rohit till it lasts(who is not young either),groom Pant meanwhile
dilliboy Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Rohit short term with Pant as VC.. But they'll go for KLPD
Sandeep99 Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 The only players with a guaranteed place in the team regardless of conditions are Pant and Bumrah. Make Pant the captain. beetle and Lord 2
SK_IH Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Ashwin is a smart aleck, he should be kept away from leadership roles. I think Rohit will be captain looking at options available. His deputy can be Pant. rollingstoned 1
HamHindustani Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Rohit is even an option as a Test captain?

AuxiliA Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Make Rohit captain till this WTC cycle. Pant should be made VC and be groomed for long term captaincy. beetle 1

HamHindustani Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 what if Rahane is made the captain? Sgattick10 and beetle 1 1
goose Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 rohit by a country mile. i don't know enough about the younguns to speculate on how they would perform with the added responsibility and media attention / duties
Lone Wolf Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Count Dracula Pujara is the obvious candidate @zen Stan AF, sarcastic, Frustrated and 1 other 4
HamHindustani Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Are there any views of Dravid about Rohit as a test player. I think Dravid will take a Pujara or Rahane over Rohit. KL seems a long term option
vayuu1 Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Rohit or ash as short term captain, Long term groom groom bumrah as test captain,i feel he has it in him to lead team
Adamant Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Rohit Sharma definitely. Let him handle the captaincy till 2023 WTC and then hand it over to the greatest cricketer in the world i.e Rishabh Pant. Lord 1
Adamant Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Ravi Ashwin shouldn't be picked as captain, he doesn't deserve a place in the side in SEN.
