this V-rat decline has been faster than most expected, although it was always on the cards

All players decline, its inevitable.

The only difference is the grace in which you exit the game.

As much as I love Sachin, I thought he prolonged his retirement.

Then again, 2 years before he retired he scored the biggest and highest by any player in ODI cricket, ie the famous first double century. These days we are grateful if Kohli scores a 50 close to a run a ball.

He is unlikely to have a second peak. Want to be pleasantly surprised.  He may not even reach 10k runs if his poor form continues. Punter had 3 great years. In 5 calendar years he crossed 1000 runs. Until the last 3 years he was okay . Even in his very last year Punter made 221 as his highest. Nobody knows where his next 100 will come.

Have you noticed Kohli has started playing selfishly. His strike rate is going downhill. Not playing according to situation like before.

Where have i seen this before. Ganguly 2005. I remember him making 9 runs in 24 balls coming up the order on an absolute road.  Fans were pissed off.

lol.

I dont think thats by choice, he is in permanent decline.

Has Kohli even scored a 50+ score in ODI cricket where his SR was over 100 in the last 20 games? How many? I highly doubt its more than 2.

Kohli shouldn't play dead rubbers. FFS look at Williamson who many draw VK's parallels with.
Its the best time to try out permutations/combinations and give others a chance.

Chuckte Raho

Agree its shameless that he is playing when he is no longer captain.

On the basis of performance he doesn't deserved a chance in playing xi.

Question is.  Does he even deserve a place in the ranjis?    With the current form, I m not sure if any ranji team would pick him.  He should rather retire and go on a long world tour with the amount of money he has.

Quite astonishing his downfall really. He is 33 and most batsman are at their peak at that age. But he seem to have lost all his reflexes.

Virat should look to retire to save his avg somewhat. Its not poor form...he is not going through poor form. His reflexes waned out which is shocking for a player of his calibre and that too at this early age.
