Ankit_sharma03 Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 We bang to much head on our batting but in ODI our big problem is actually bowling. Whole Indian bowling unit avg worse then every nation in PP, way way worse then other. Worse avg and worse eco as well Saini-thakur-Krishna has bowled 264 balls among them in this period and ZERO wkt More then krishna n avesh the selection that we shud be more about shud be Siraj Frustrated, Sandeep99, SRT100 and 2 others 2 3

Majestic Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Hence it is important to pick Deepak Chahar. A wicket taker and a very good striker of the ball at 7 or 8. You play specialist bowlers and they won't take wickets every time. When they don't take wickets, they won't contribute with bat either and after 3-4 years, their pace will be down too. Ofcourse the main point here is to pick wicket takers but also need to have depth in batting. The so called 140 KPh pacers who cannot bat start losing their pace after 2-3 years of cricket and then they become hard to get dropped too as they become an integral part of side. So, don't cost your batting due to pace obsession. Ofcourse, the said players should be good in their first facet.
Majestic Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) The best trio India can put in ODIs with bowl in hand are :- Jasprit Bumrah Mohammad Siraj Deepak Chahar Two spinners 6th bowler( Pandya) Sundar can also be 6th bowler but for that he needs to be backed by TM a little higher up the order and he too has to perform quickly because you cannot keep Hardik or SKY or Kishan or even S Iyer( who has started part time bowling)from that 6th batsman spot for too long. Lone Wolf Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Bumrah has been so average that his absence is not even felt mostly in ODIs these days. Don't play him ODI bilaterals I think. We have opened many threads on Indian pace bowling already. Give opportunities to Siraj Prasidh or even Avesh Tyagi. Test & T20 he is good enough. And should get to play them.
rkt.india Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) With new ball, you need bowlers who can move the ball in the air. Pitches are usually flat. New ball bowling is a special skill which Bumrah lacks. Edited February 8, 2022 by rkt.india Clarke, Lone Wolf and Frustrated 3
Stan AF Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 This has been the problem for the last 30 years or so. We just cannot seem to put constant dents in the opposition scoring runs by taking wickets. Most of our white ball bowlers simply have no idea on how to stifle runs, bowl tighter lines or generate seam movement or use the bouncer. At best we've had zaheer and bumrah who could actually make the ball talk and extract wickets at all surfaces. Spinners the lesser said the better. Most of our spinners don't turn the ball much. Even the biggest names being Kumble or ashwin, it doesn't matter. We've only had 2 leggies who can actually turn the ball and extract prodigious turn or use flight and drift. It is no coincidence that India enjoyed a particularly successful 2 years between 2017 and 19 just before the wc because we had 2 wicket taking spinners and bumrah doing their best. After that they simply forgot how to take wickets and it's back to square one. P.S: Also in bumrah's case his decline in picking wickets is mainly due to there are no bowlers who can create pressure from the other end. Banton and Vijy 2
Jay Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Always advocated for boom to bowl first change. He sucks with new ball. He can be deadly in MO and death.
Vk1 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 the best new ball bowler we had in ODI cricket was Ajit Agarkar for sometime and RP Singh

But with prasidh bumrah and siraj i think it can be a deadly combo.

I always looked forward to watching him bowl. Zaheer too used to provide early breakthroughs consistently but we struggled on spin front & at the death. Indian new ball bowling was in much better shape than it is right now. I still can't believe how Kiwis were not 2-3, down in 10 overs on that damp pitch & cloudy skies in that WC SF. We lost the game right there... Big f*** off to boobie. Lord 1

Ffs he isnt bowling at Praveen kumar pace in ODI even im not sure of him but still he shud be mix. Yea but the extreme of having him as automatic selection in XI is also wrong
Ankit_sharma03 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Bumrah was actually very good with new ball as pointed out in the video but then he changed his lengths n stopped getting results
Vk1 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 I have always liked players who contributed during world cups even if they had short careers.. you look at Kumble or Harbhajan's odi record and compare it against Nehra/RP/Munaf.. I would take the latter 3 any day as they have won us world cups.. we have always underplayed such bowlers with short careers and gave more value to the more experienced..

We dropped *ing shami who has the best average vs top nation's amongst all bowlers. He was in his absolute *ing prime. * kohli. * management. They can go suck dicks for the rest of their life. One of the worst days of my life. But bowling wasn't the issue. Our pathetic batting was. Wrong selections. Wrong personnel cost us. That WC was supposed to be ours. Lord Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 The focus is too much on economy than wickets. It is seen in treatment of Shami who takes wicket even if expensive Need a left arm option too. They usually strike if they can bring ball in to RHB Ankit_sharma03, ShoonyaSifar and Suhaan 3

We need bowlers who take wickets, irrespective of pace We have been doing well whatever little good in cricket due to pace Our loi attack has mostly been trundler dominated, what is your point?
