He's the worst guy ever to play 100 tests, the one closest to him in India is the fixer captain!

Azar?

Tbf he was good between 2016-2019. His best years apart from 2008-2009. In between he was totally trash. Dint he help us win a icc tournament rofl? T20 or was it champions trophy cant remember.

But like I said before. Literally no one gives a **** about odi achievements. England won the WC but their test performances were laughable. They are a laughing stock.

Not my kind of player.

Very limited skillset and dumb as a potato, had no idea how to get batsmen out. There is more to bowling than ambling in and bowling so wide that the batter does not even have to play the ball.

The fact he has played so many tests is a sad indictment on Ind cricket - shows the nepotism and marginalising of real talent.

Being Dhoni's lover for so long masked the inadequacy of Sharma as an actual cricketer.

Good riddance.

Zaheer IMO underperformed and should have got at least 400 plus wickets but he was lazy not to keep a good fitness regime. Limping off the field in Aus and Eng in the first test of series due to bad perp and rigor. Imagine if he had half of Anderson's fitness level.

As for Ishant he made a great comeback in last 4-5 years after bowling garbage for almost a decade. But I agree at the end he did better than Zaheer.

I like to think guys like Zaheer, Irfan  would have had better numbers bowling to guys like Marcus Harris,  Jo Burns, Don Sibley. There is a fall in batting standard definitely.  It is not coincidence so many 20 average bowlers in this era.

Last 5 years fast bowlers record (minimum 20 wickets). That Boland guy has 18 wickets at an average of 9.

This is exactly why he was never able to lead the attack even once in 15 years. Never had the smarts to chart out plans and gets out batsmen. He had a decent come back. Now he is past it. He just runs in and puts the ball there with no real spite, venom. Even if Siraj or anyone who replaced him doesn't click there are plenty of seamers to replace them. We have to stop going back to him just because he could be a work horse.

Can't believe the guy is still only 33..Feels like he has been playing since ages..I was a kid when he debuted, I have started losing hairs and he is still playing...

And he still has a full head of hair, always looks like he could use a haircut.

Dhoni played a part in Ishan't regression. Also he gave him full backing, his bowling got all messed up with Dhoni's strategies. Another reason was IPL. That is where the real change started happening. Didn't know how to bowl in shorter format.  He overall screwed up. His inswing was very tough to negotiate when he was new. Over a period he lost that.

Ishant debuted in test cricket in late 2007 as a teenager, and just months later got picked for the IPL. BCCI should have kept him away from IPL for a season or two till he developed more as a bowler.I don't remember if it was the 2008 season or another but even Piyush Chawla hammered him for 18-19 runs in one over. Can't be good for a bowler's confidence to get hammered like that, especially for a young bowler starting out in his career.

Be careful.

India only need to lose Bumrah and Shami for the BCCI and TM to back experience in Sharma.

Until he is shot down, he is always a COVID chance of playing again.

Maybe pitches were just flatter back then. Works both ways. Drs made the difference. Trust me with drs lots of those so called greats would get bamboozled in this era.

Ishant the last Teen pace sensation to get fast tracked into Indian team.

Say whatever Early G mid 2000's were dope.  Young Yuvi came in... Raina too came straightaway after U19 WC.  Irfan too got selected so early.  Then RP Singh.

Indian teams used to be full of youth.

Now we celebrate so much if we see a U23 player get selected.  It used to be a norm those days.

Yeah this Boland guy looked unplayable.  So many shoddy techniques make even mediocre bowlers look like world class.   Quality of batting has gone down.  Players like Prime Yuvi would be called future test greats if he played in this decade.

Absolutely torched Ponting in Perth, it was one of the greatest spells of fast bowling by an Indian in SENA.

Meh, i get it that he got x wickets but no need to drag Zak and claim lambu was better than him as seen by some bhakts here. Zak was an all out spear who led the bowling and made massive contributions in the famous Eng test series win as well as the world cup. He had great skills such as yorker & reverse that Ishant could only dream of. I doubt lambu would have had his golden patch rubbing shoulders with run of the mill bowlers instead of Bumrah & Shami. Nor was he ever a leader of the pack as he'd claimed.

Uthappa was also promising initially, was part of the 2007 T20 WC winning team. Gambhir was just 26 and took on the leading batsman's role in that tournament. Rohit was also part of the team in the tournament and also played a couple of good knocks to help India win the tri-series in Australia.
