backup for Hardik

ATM it looks like we are overtly dependent on Hardik to give us the balance.. what should we do if Hardik gets injured or given rest ? pick a pure batsman? V Iyer? definitely no coz of his bowling.. I have a feeling that we should play Karthik in his place and go for a better bowler than Jadeja.. Jadeja plays only if Hardik is there..

If Dhawan,Rohit Virat plays in the top order and Pant ,Surya,Pandya are middle  order then Jadeja ,Asar are not the right players for late middle order.

Selectors should  have tried Tewatia in this series

Hardik is a hit-the-deck pacer who can bat in thd top 6.

This is so rare.

We don't have a backup.

If Hardik is injured then the plan should be to promote Jadeja in the top 6 ... and we must develop a replacement for Jadeja.

Tewatia can be one of the contenders.

But even then, our four pronged pace attack will be compromised.

Thakur can hit thr deck but he does lower the attack hostility.

Thakur's pace and fitness have gone down.

We need a proper pacer in the top 7.

The problem with current setup is long tail. In t20s its still fine but in Odis we need someone to bat at no. 8

May be Deepak chahar

Or even Hooda /sundar in place of krishna in subcontinent condition

20 overs between hardik, jadega or Hooda/sundar

Why are Indian players like this. Some success and then fame gets to them fml. 4 or 5 years Max. And then become sopperstars. Stop trying hard.

In the future maybe Raj Bawa

Yeah, Raj Bawa looked like a proper allrounder in U-19, need to see if he's able to sustain that momentum.
Hangargekar was another one, who has the potential, but at present he's more of a bowling allrounder.

Waise, apne Jr. Tendulkar bhi hai, sad to see no one is calling his name.

The backup who were tried

Vijay Shankar

Shivam Dubey

Venkatesh.Iyer

All.three were mostly batting allrounders and their role was different than Pandya.

Venkatesh Iyer should have got more .games.He can bat at any position and he could have been the 6th bowler who could have bowl in the middle 2 overs of medium pace .

In 9 T20 he has 5 wickets and has made 133 runs at the average of 33 at 162 strike rate.He could have done better ,but as a young players ,has good numbers.

Pant?

Close but no. We have had great players like Dhoni, who can bat & keep.
