Yuzvendra Chahal made a major revelation over a big change in his bowling this year, crediting Rohit Sharma for his suggestion right before the start of IPL 2022.

The leg-spinner has thrived since his return to the side last year and in an interview with YouTube channel Sports Yaari, Chahal said he has been given the liberty to bowl by captain Rohit Sharma.

"Rohit bhai always used me like a wicket-taking bowler. I got great liberty from him which every bowler expects from the captain." Elaborating further, Chahal said "Rohit bhai would always ask me what I wanted to do as a bowler. Even during India's batting, he would ask me what I would've bowled in a particular situation. I got to know that as a bowler, I can't relax in an over".

Chahal also talked about his transformation as a death over spinner and his comeback as a major member of the Indian team. When asked who pushed him to work on his powerplay bowling, he said "Rohit bhai had told me that you might have to bowl in powerplay and during death overs before I started the IPL season this year."

I wonder where is "Virat bhai" ?? No credits to him as he is no more captain. Though Virat always backed him over Kuldeep.

Kaam khatam, Aadmi Khatam.

Mostly pacers would give credit if at all. I don't think Kohli was a great spinners captain. Kuldeep should have never faded away. Should have given him enough confidence. He still has amazing numbers in all formats.

He even backed him over Shami in WC2019 on the pace friendly pitch, him giving away 18 runs in one over in very low scoring game. He was the big difference between NZ scoring 20 extra runs atleast.

43.6

Chahal to de Grandhomme, FOUR, 18 from the over, poor delivery from Chahal to end an ordinary spell, dragged his length back and it sat up to be smacked - cracked past point and there's no need to run for those

43.5

Chahal to Ross Taylor, leg byes, 1 run, very full and drifting onto the right-hander, Taylor was looking to flick and missed, off the pad and rolled to the off-side

43.4

Chahal to Ross Taylor, no run, nicely tossed up around middle, Taylor can't get underneath the ball, driven back at the bowler

43.4

Chahal to Ross Taylor, wide, Chahal loops this one way outside off, called as a wide

43.3

Chahal to Ross Taylor, FOUR, more runs, this is turning out to be an expensive over - tossed up at the stumps, he gets his left leg of the way and drilled it wide of mid-wicket. Even RJ can't get across and that despite his dive

43.2

Chahal to Ross Taylor, 2 runs, tossed up around the leg-stump line, worked in front of square on the on-side, Taylor wants a second run and he scampers back

43.1

Chahal to Ross Taylor, SIX, clubbed, fifty for Taylor - he has battled and battled hard, but this is a fine blow. This was tossed up well outside off, right in his arc as he got down and swiped it high and over mid-wicket - the first six of the day

Yuzi was supposedly good at chess, he's just working with the pieces left on the board.

Everyone is missing the forest for the trees here! What resurgence? Has this guy bowled a series deciding spell or done anything notable in a high pressure game? He will be back to chewing his collar and grinning like a clueless midget as soon as a batsman takes him on tonks him for a few.

He was not even in the picture last year. Remember. We took Varun crapparavarthy.

What resurgence ?

After he was sidelined for world T20, last year he has played 13 matches 16 wickets.  ER of 7.06. 12 months before 7 matches 8 wickets. ER of 9.10.  resurgence is exaggerated. But he has done enough to be first choice spinner. His only competition is Bishnoi right now in T20.

The amount of hype that went into building up Varun Chakravarthy as a mystery spinner was something else, wasn't it !?!?!

The real mystery however, is why he never lived up to the hype.

There was no DK behind the wickets to shout at him after every ball.

He was probably not the culprit. Anyone who bowled second in the world T20 got punished. But that match is not the reason why i don't rate him. He can be treated as a medium pacer. Mendis was far more potent than him when he was new. But eventually figured out.  This guy is poor man's Mendis.

Yeah, it wasn't infact his fault completely, also there was big dew factor.
It's just that, he was overhyped as some "out of world" talent and that put too much focus on him.

Is that a prerequisite ?
