Takeaways from the Asia Cup

1. Bhuvi is not an all phase bowler.

2. Batting can't end at no 7 if you're planning for aggressive fearless cricket.

3. Left Right combination while batting is a big help.

4. It's not easy to make everyone a finisher, lower middle order batters need to be groomed.

5. Pant shouldn't be a sure starter in T20 if he is batting in MO...we have other options in T20.

6. You can't survive with one skill unless you're extremely good at it. For ex...Chahal is useless as a fielder and as a batter. His bowling itself isn't guarantee to pull him through.

7. Wicket taking ability at the start matters a lot, 4-30-2 have more impact if you get your 2 wickets early rather than getting those 2 wickets at the end.

You covered exactly what was in my mind ... We need bowling ar upto 9 and 6 bowlers... With what we have... Pandya jadeja Chahar harshal axar  or ashwin or even Thakur should have been considered. Chahal has no place as he is not far superior to ashwin or axar and they compensate in other disciplines. Last two slots should be bowlers..one is Bumrah..the other depends on who the third pacer is.

The other thing we should add is that we need wicket taking bowlers..like siraj or Shami or even malik..too many defensive bowlers make the attack ineffective along with being not sexy..lol .specially on the true pitches of australia

^^ Rohit was the captain in Asia cup.

Yeah.. Another factor is Dravid held an important position in both the 2007 WC loss and Asia cup loss.

Biggest and blindly obvious takeaway - we should stick to playing bilateral series only. We have degraded from losing in the semis to losing pretty much every potentially challenging opponent in the earlier stages itself. Lost to Pak and Kiwis in the T20 WC, lost to Pak and SL in this tournament. That's a 100% record in need to win matches!

Rohit proved, it was not Kohli's captaincy which was the problem. It is moronic undependable MO and lack of new ball bowlers. These were the problems in 2021 , Asia cup and it will continue to be a problem in Australia also.

This team will go as far the top three take them again.

Once again, the only takeaway is that people are way too reactionary. We defended in both matches until the very end. High pace or not, there are only a few changes in approach and maybe a couple of changes in personnel needed.

India's takeaways from Asia Cup: Hardik not effective as third seamer, Karthik best bet as finisher

"Hardik returned combined figures of 8-0-79-1 as India failed to defend 181 and 173 respectively. By the time they brought Deepak Chahar from the reserves to the playing XI, India's campaign was done and dusted."

"It's likely India will have Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel back for the Australia series, and the World Cup. Which means Hardik will once again slip back into his usual role as sixth bowler, and he excels at that." Sixth bowler maane just 1 or 2 overs.

That cricket is an idiotic sport where tossing a coin is more important than anything else. It is absolutely STUPID. The only sport with such  silly imbalance (and then a bunch of gnashing teeth which is pretty irrelevant)

So who is this harshal Patel speed demon does he bowl 120 k thunder bolts like Sir Bhuvi.

That's only for the matches in UAE.    Other places, toss hardly makes a difference in T20.

another takeaway

jadeja is a key cog in all three formats. he brings in value with his bating bowling and fielding. preserve him like national treasure for tests and upcoming wc in india too

rohit is a better captain than kohli. gave space to kohli, rahul , sky . H ehas faith in pant and i have a feeling pant may be our card in australia-either he wil win us or sink us. pointing an dmany others opine to have pant in the team cos of his potential given how poor our other batters are, we have to punt on punt

bhuvi might be a good bowler for aussie conditions. some movement and he will be old there. at same time , we need bumrah for pace and death bowling and shami for seam bowling. hardick is a good 4th bowler and so is axar . hardick /axar combine has to be there to give some options

chahal and bishnoi both need to be there for aussie. i would select both

ashwin vs hooda . i would take ashwin too as he bring more value in bowling and can old bat and has had good scores in aussie in tests.

my batters -rahul kohli rohit sky -top 4

pandya, pant , hooda/ashwin chahar/axar bhuvi shami/bishnoi bumrah and chahal

dk as back reserve keeper, back up finisher , floater

15 squad above can win us most matches

take siraj, arshdeep, thakur and umran/mohsin as net bowlers

avesh should be discarded for sure imo

No, the point is Pandya can’t be relied upon to bowl 4 overs.  He is a 4th seamer all-rounder in Aus. Not bad option if you have 2 spinners and one has to bat a bit. Ashwin or Axar has to come in.
