In 2014 when Kohli was 26 he played an absolutely sensational innings of 119 in Johannesberg green top batting first and then followed it up with a 96 in second innings against the following

Steyn

Philander

Morkel

Kallis

If you see the highlights of the match you ll know how good his technique was at that age.. Babar can only dream of those type of innings..

I don't know, man. Babar plays the ball very late and has a strong backfoot game and therefore plays very well square of the wicket.

Man you should do well to see stats. 278 runs in aus in 10 innings at an average of 27.8.

26 Innings which is a decent sample size. 904 Runs. Average 39. In SENA

Md yusuf Was far far better.. even Inzi and younis..

Guy was never good in this format. Doesn't have the power game at all and also can't hit spinners to save his life.

Playing with 120 SR on those rubbish UAE wickets against reserve bowling attacks is what earned him that no.1 ranking in T20s.

I'm not saying he's better. I'm not saying that he will do better in the future. Babar may turn out to be a complete mental midget and fail overseas but that technique is solid.

39 average in SENA is OK considering that he plays for Pakistan. Their bowling was minnow level in all recent SENA tours and the rest of thd batting had guys like Fawad Alam, lol.

Even as a kohli hater I can't say hajam is better than peak kphli. But he definitely defecates on current kphli. Like lightyears ahead.

Peak kohli was top quality.

Best average and strike rate for openers in Sena countries

64/140- Muhammad Rizwan

50/150- Babar Azam

44/139- KL Rahul

29/144-Rohit Sharma

lol if Rohit and kl like pace on the ball then Babar and Rizwan like it even more. Babar is boss against pacers on hard true wickets.

He has weakness against bounce. Bounced out by West Indies in world cup. Most recently Bhuvi bounced him out. Olivier nailed him 3 times with bouncer in the SA/Pakistan series.

42.4 got him! Doesn't give you a chance, this guy! Short ball again. Just gets so steep when he hits that length, more so than any other bowler in this line-up. Babar wants to get on the back foot to defend this. It's not a bad option at all. But it gets to throat height and he can't control it from there. A glove and QDK takes a simple catch 162/4

He also seems to be bloating up and looks a little unfit so with 3 formats and modern demands not sure how long he can keep up especially in tests.

He might go the Hafeez/ Shoaib Malik route eventually and play only LOIs.

In tests though I think he will have a Moyo level test career. Also add he ended the streak which Pakistanis will probably never forget which is his Inzamam 92. Don’t think Inzamam played any such knocks again though outside of some random bilaterals. Anyways he will have somewhere between Inzi-Moyo level career overall. Based on current trend obviously as history tells us things change very quickly in our neighborhood.

Captaincy pressure will drown him, just like it did with Brat. I still maintain Kohli should've given up captaincy at least in one format 2-3 years back, around 2019-20 or so!
