Rohit Sharma is not even half the player as Virat Kohli is

Let's just accept the fact. This is the third WT20 tournament that Virat Kohli is bossing while Rohit inspite of being an opener is yet to dominate even one.

His best performance probably came 15 years ago when he won India a virtual knockout game vs South Africa when batting first. But he hardly has enough performances up his sleeves given the number of tournaments he has played.

He is India's best batsman since Kohli but actually more closer to the likes of KL Rahul than Kohli.

After years of slow and steady starts he is suddenly trying to play aggressively. He just couldn't attain consistency.  He could have hit that ball anywhere. Good batsman would have slapped that for six.  His timing is all  gone. He has become a slogger

he's officially 35+. Unfit. Reflexes all gone

That run out he missed vs SA tells us all. He barely had the fitness to run in the follow through and knock the bails off. Just threw the ball towards the stumps in an ugly fashion.

yeah that was worst.

Its gonna cost us again v a good team

He has been playing since inaugural wt20 and have only 3-4 good innings to his name.. Completely bottled in 2016 when it was at home, the reason why we had to huff and puff to make it to SF depsite that wt20 was at home.. Also least the said about last one is better.. Typical bilateral bully, surprisingly it is always the other opener(Dhaana before and KLR now)best the brunt of criticism while this guy always beyond criticism. His whole talk of aggresive approach evaporated like a vapour in just 4 matches.

Opening is not the slot for him in T20. He has to come in at 5 and stay still the end.  2007 he never opened but had important knocks in the middle order

6 months ago in a t20 match against windies, he batted at no. 4.  Took too long to open his account and scored at a SR of about 50 throughout. Eventually got out in ugly manner.  Totally spoiled the momentum.   That Rohit of 2007 was a completely different player with quick reflexes. He was 21 back then.   This is Old man.  No point comparing.  I m referring to this match. https://www.cricbuzz.com/live-cricket-scorecard/38617/ind-vs-wi-3rd-t20i-west-indies-tour-of-india-2022

Yup, no way is he going to cut it as a middle order batter. As an opener, he can milk the power play to boost up his SR. In the middle order he will be badly exposed with his slowed down reflexes and miscued shots.

So both of our openers should not open and bat in the lower order. Why are they in the team then? As someone else said, Rohit has been playing for so long, he hardly has many memorable knocks. His two knocks came all the way back in 2007. I’ve always criticized thala all these years, but this guy is there up with him. Hopefully this is his last ICC tourney.
