Fearing for Pant

As a huge fan of Rishabh, I fear for his future under this team management. Karthik has managed to find his way into the XI because of a few good domestic performances despite a history of failures in ICC tournaments and no experience in Australia. I know Pant hasn't lit up international T20s, but tell me one other international side that would pick a 37 year old TTF DK over someone like Pant.

My fear is that even in ODIs to accommodate the old guard like Dhawan..they may drop Pant despite him hitting good form at no 4/5. With the World Cup coming up, the mindset of this management seems to go along with experienced players and it won't surprise me at all if they discard him without second thought.

Also feel for the likes of Gill, Bishnoi, Shaw who must feel gutted being consistently overlooked (inexplicably dropped in case of Bishnoi)

My only question is - who is calling the shots? Is it Dravid - who I initially thought was a champion of young players? Or Rohit, who likes to pick his Chums in the team it seems.

Whatever the reason, the immediate future of the side under this management, looks gloomy AF.

Dravid was unfit to coach this loi side in the first place

Cricket has moved on and we have realised it only when Dravid was handed the coaching job because he doesn't seem to be in line with modern methods ,

Plus,he doesn't have the gall to try different combinations with certain individuals in and out of the main side

He is named VC for NZ series. India needs a no 6, role DK has played pant hasnt thats the only reason he isnt in XI. Lets not kid ourselves and think pants future is in any kind of danger.

Pant probably won't be the first pick in t20, in ODIs and tests he is permanent.

DK is for T20 format only. Pant's form in ODIs is pretty good with a match-winning century recently. Unless he is injured and his replacement does spectacularly, his place is not under threat.

Nothing will happen to Pant.  As far as T20 goes T20 international career is an useless career. IPL > International T20 in terms of your worth. He is still going to be in the starting XI in other 2 formats.  Pant has plenty of time to work on his T20 game. Even if he doesn't get to succeed in T20 internationals no big deal. His Test performance is more important.

I think Pant will get a permanent spot in India T20 team after the ongoing World Cup. DK hasn't been performing up to the mark and I don't think we'll see him in action for the National team a lot after this World Cup.

Even if DK had performed Pant was going to replace him anyway. So it is moot. DK was going to retire anyway after this. He is 37.
