Pandya to replace Sharma as ODI & T20 captain

The Indian cricket team is set to undergo another major change soon as Hardik Pandya is likely to take over as the captain of the ODI and T20I teams. Times Now has learned that Hardik will be replacing Rohit Sharma, whose fitness has been a concern in the past one year. Rohit has missed many matches due to fitness issues and isn't part of the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh either.

 

Pandya has never led a team in List A cricket. He has captained Team India to 4 wins in 5 T20Is. India's white-ball teams will next hit the field against Sri Lanka on January 3 and the squads for the series will be announced by the end of next week. Rohit is likely to make his comeback for the home series.

If it does indeed happen, I hope he doesn't stop bowling and also doesn't start playing "sheet anchor" type innings. We need Pandya the player to perform (both batting and bowling) and not become yet another captain that started playing safe cricket.

I want to see it confirmed before believing it. and even if Pandu becomes the full-time captain, I doubt if dhawan, kela, rohit, booba, etc will get removed.

This is already expect . Pant for tests should happen some time next year.

In many ways I feel sad about Indian Cricket, we have to hope and pray our uncles literally fall apart and break down for them to be replaced.

 

So yes, the betterment of Indian Cricket is for Rohit to be permanently and physically in decline is a good thing. Need this to happen to Dhawan, KL, Pujara and Kohli, so we can all move on from them.

Per "reports", BCCI has offered Sir Don captaincy for both formats ... However, Sir Don has asked for some time to think it over i.e. whether he wants to focus on T20s or both T20s & ODIs as captain

BCCI top brass has discussed the plan with Hardik Pandya and the Gujarat Titans captain has sought some time to respond to the line of thought from the board, sources in knowledge of the recent development have told India Today.

No decision has been taken regards with this but yes we are in the thought process to give him the captaincy of white-ball cricket. Let's see how things go further," the top source said.

does not have to be someone young like graeme smith. it can be someone who can bring a fresh attitude like stokes, who isn't exactly young.
