ash Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Both would be in all time Indian XI for subcontinent pitches. Ash, Jaddu and Kumble - deadly combination raki05 1

Look at how brainlessly they played today, mentally they are already shot when they see Jaddu with the ball. He's now 259@23.82 in 62 tests. To give you a persepctive of how good jadeja is, Michael Holding is 249@23.7 in 60!!!! Lone Wolf 1

Ashwin has 137 away wickets at average of 31. Stan AF 1

As a cricketer he's a notch above ashwin... Plus his fielding. Vilander and raki05 2
neel roy Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 The biggest problem for aussies is now that their main weapon of sweep has been blitzed they ll have doubts about their technique. Media will hound them now playing replays and social media will be on steroids. So come next match in Indore which is red soil and bounce they ll play with bat and pad together like all indian top order do and then ashwin will have them for fun again.. and if Kuldeep somehow gets in the team.. Game over.. Suhaan and adi B 2
Gollum Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Hope both retire from white ball internationals (maybe Jaddu can just play till the home WC, but please no more T20Is for him as well). Mint money in IPL, and play tests for next 3-4 years. If they continue we can reach next 2 WTC finals as well. raki05, AuxiliA, neel roy and 1 other 4

The point was made due to the comparison to Michael Holding on bowling.

Game over.. Sweep is a promising weapon... Usman used it well in 1st inns & Carey in that first Test. They should back it more & more. Kusal Mendis, Kurunaratne put on a sweeping masterclass on a turning Colombo (SSC) in 2017 in 4th inss vs Ash & Jaddu. They lost the test but it was a method. However today it was variable bounce, not extravagant turn. Aussies failed to account for that. If Indore turns but bounce stays consistent... Aussies should employ all kinds of sweep they want. It's a effective scoring shot if used wisely. Reverse sweep is dangerous but can be used against darters like Axar.

Lone Wolf Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Jadeja's success in Australia as a bowler is a underrated stat. He has been their cheif destroyer. All that is left for him is Conquest of South Africa. The final chapter in his legacy... You can add WTC final as well. If he achieves both... He could enter in GOAT Indian & ATG level in world cricket. raki05 1
Gollum Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Post 1990, as bowlers Warne and Murali are exceptions. Ashwin, Jaddu, Kumble, Lyon, Swann come in the next tier, one can always make cases for any of them but broadly similar calibre of spinners with their own strengths and weaknesses. What Ashwin and especially Jaddu have over the others is batting, not just runs but the clutch/tough runs to help their teams out on a regular basis. Bhajji, Herath, Vettori probably the next tier. But Vettori has 6 test 100s, Bhajji 2, that makes them more valuable cricketers than Herath. Saqlain, Mushtaq Ahmed, Yasir, Macgill, Shakib, Kaneria, Moeen in 4th tier. Lack consistency/longevity but still quite good. raki05, AuxiliA and Vilander 3
Gollum Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 2011-12 and 2014-15 tours on absolute pattas dented Ashwin's stats in Aus a lot. He missed Adelaide 2014 but since then when he and Lyon (last of the great offies I guess) have played together over there I think Ashwin has better numbers. Aus has given us fair pitches unlike the other 3 gora countries who shamelessly doctor and then act like saints. raki05 1

Except for the Perth 2018 pitch which had a Virat Masterclass all pitches they gave us have been fair
