I liek England's approach. But this can be fine tuned especially Root's batting approach. Declarations. If England wanted to draw the test from the outset it was possible. Australian bowling was toothless by and large. Australia will now have Smith also firing.

Ironically they won this match because of positive approach they took for the first time in a desperation. If Cummins had batted defensively things would ahve been difficult.

Australia were the real bazballers much before T20 cricket in early 2000s. They didn't have to play ugly cricket with scoops, reverse scoops, reverse sweeps, etc. Used to make 350 a day scores when others would struggle for 250.

Everyboyd knows that Australia used to go at 4 an over back then thanks to Gill. But this approach is one level above. You don't see top batsman playing reverse scoops. go at 6 an over entire day.  WHy go that far. Rishab patn was ahead of time compared to England.

It is still bad. We have to understand the difference. In this match England was on the top of the game best part of the test match. IN that match Australia was on top for the best part. We were never in the game except first session on day 1.

In this game, England were never on top. It was an even game. Both teams were in the game till last one-two hours.

It was a nonsensical declaration which had no purpose.

They wanted to have stupid 2 over stab at Aussies lol Just for that they declared. What it also does is it gives less rest for his own bowlers.

Not just Gilly, Hayden, ponting, Clark, Symonds, all were aggressive players and used to bat positively. If England play with this approach, they will not anymore prepare green pitches.

What are you taliking. They dictated the terms. First smashed them scored close to 400 runs in a day. Then took a marginal lead. Then they went after bowling again. Australia was all but lost after 8 down.
